This is from the book "Why Do I still have Thyroid Symptoms"
"Did you know that a pregnant mother can pass on adrenal dysfunction to her unborn child. Studies show that in her third trimester of pregnancy a woman with adrenal exhaustion will draw adrenal hormones from the baby through the umbilical cord. As a result, the child is at risk for being born with compromised adrenal function. Since adrenal dysfunction so greatly impacts immune and gut health, and since it is nearly universal these days, this helps explain the increasing rates of allergies, food intolerances, eczema, and autism among children, not to mention post partum depression".
We have not told our mom, because we don't want her to feel guilty. And I can see adrenal fatigue creeping in on my nephews and nieces. I'm sort of being the family naturopath.
By the way Maresydotes....don't feel guilty yourself. This is information that perhap 0.01% of doctors even know. I don't blame my mom at all. I feel bad she had to go through this as well, while raising 5 kids with an alcoholic for a husband.
They put her on valium for 5 years. Which probably calmed her nervous system down enough so she could recover. But she was a zombie during that period. Then she weaned herself off all on her own without any addiction support….strong lady. She’s 80 now. So you can still live long even after adrenal fatigue.
Oh...and I think the healing codes is working. I had this all typed in once and ready to hit send when my cimputer crashed. I just smiled. Normally I would have dropped the F bomb several times. I'm much more patient.
I also bought a couple of books. The Anxiety Free Book comes with a great CD that is sort of a combination of guided meditation, hypnosis and Buteyko instruction all rolled into one.
The books are an easy read. Normalbreathing.com is a good resource once you know a bit. But it is a bit over-whelming when you are new to the concept. Now when I go back to that site, I understand it better.
The thing I like about the instructor is it's great to be able to ask someone with experience questions. I might not have been so freaked out by the cleansing reaction (bone pain, skin issues) had I been working with an instructor at the time.
But yeah...you can go it alone. Just research the cleansing reactions and research a bit before you dive in too hard. She said that I went too quick at the beginning. Just go slow and watch out for the cleansing reactions. Don't panic..they are a good sign.
The cleansing reactions depend on how hard you practice and how sick you are. From what I can tell, you are quite sick. Your Control Pause is quite low. So as you increase it, you can expect to go through even more serious cleansing reactions than I have experienced. So go slow and read a bit before you go too hard.
