help! my enamel is weak and my teeth are cracking. if i take my fingernail and scrape it against my teeth, the enamel comes right off. it is not dirt, toothpaste or placque, but my actual tooth.
almost all of my teeth have cracks in them (some are craze lines but a lot are cracks). i think the only thing saving me is that my teeth are so close together. one part of a tooth clicks back and forth after eating certain foods. i was recently fitted for a retainer and after wearing it three more of my teeth cracked.
how do i heal a crack? will fluoride free ms paste or restore do the job? i know there are some bad ingredients in them, but i need to do something. i tried oil pulling, tooth & gum powder, etc... it has not worked.

Disregard the advice that fluoride will damage your teeth- it's not true when it is used correctly. Dr. Phillips knows what she is talking about and is extremely prevention-minded. Some might also say that she is just trying to promote her xylitol products, which is also false. She always tells people that they can buy xylitol at their local health food store if they prefer.
I have no personal connection to Dr. Phillips, but I have corresponded with her via e-mail and have spoken with her over the phone. She truly is the "good Samaritan" of dentistry.
I wish you well with your dental situation.

This is a reply to # 1,806,277thank you. this is interesting. my enamel started to go downhill when i stopped plaxing, acting and using reg. toothpaste after i learned of the dangers of fluoride. however, i got really bad fluorosis (white spots that are chipping) after another dentist gave me a tube of highly concentrated fluoride to use.
what about cracks? has anyone healed cracks?

This is a reply to # 1,806,475My understanding is that fluorosis can only occur in children before their permanent teeth erupt, not in adults. Only excessive quantities of ingested fluoride can cause it (swallowing toothpaste, for example), not topical applications of fluoride.
What you're describing could be caused by mouth acidity, dry mouth, acid reflux, "bathing" your teeth in acidic food and beverages, etc.

This is a reply to # 1,806,666hmm...i did not change my diet though and it happened after i finished the tube of fluoride. i was also using act several times a day. i was overdoing it bc i liked how fluoride was making my teeth thick and sturdier.
still hoping someone might know about cracks??
