Until a month ago my now 6 year old daughter had had blastocystis since she was 3. Her symptoms were constant(hourly) stomach cramps, fuzzy head, fleeting feelings of 'depression', bloated stomach and just generally feeling 'blah'. We had done the rounds of the usual
Antibiotics - flagyl and metronidazole - and tried countless natural remedies. Nothing worked and I refused to try any other
Antibiotics unless the doctor could cite another case that had been cured using that prescription as she became very unwell after each session and the symptoms became more severe. I would have tried the badbugs triple
Antibiotic regimen but my doctor wouldn't look at it. I've read all these forums countless times and trolled the internet looking for an answer that would work with a young child. Restricting her diet would have been a nightmare for example. Finally it clicked with me that I needed to get her gut/digestive enzymes/pH balance back to their natural state and then hopefully we might have some success using natural remedies like coconut, walnut, cloves etc. For myself I have recently gone back to eating the way my great grandparents would have to cure my chronic ezcema. That is, I have cut out ALL additives,
preservatives , chemicals from my diet. Anyway, I thought I would make a real project of keeping my daughter to this diet (not easy when they are going to school). She had only been eating "additive free" for a week when she told me she wasn't getting any "sore tummies". A couple of days after she came dancing up to me and told me she felt like she had magic in her - she felt "like a fairy - free and light". She was just so happy and for a couple of weeks was keeping a running total of the number of "tummy ache" free days she'd had. To be honest, because of the Christmas holiday period I haven't had her retested yet, but I am convinced it has gone. She is a different child. It all seems so simple for a very complex parasite, but it would have to be the most amazing coincidence for it to disappear at the same time I changed her diet. Anyway, this might strike a chord with someone out there and work for them too.
