No it doesn't. Some months ago I read of a huge study done, like 20,000 people over many years, and the conclusion was that those that consumed alcohol had less Gallstones
and less kidney stones. It breaks up the fat. I put some of my cholesterol stones in some wine and they dissolved faster than in lemon juice. I think where alcohol damages the liver is when people consume too much. From what I've read, people who drink 1 glass a day are much healthier than people who don't drink or who drink too much, i.e. more than a glass or two a day. There's a lot of info on the net about it, especially red wine, so check it out.

40% less likely, I don't know where they got that from but it's not a bad article.
