I have been doing what some others on here are doing and trying to really up my fat intake. I cook with grapeseed oil. I do not use coconut oil because it stimulates my thyroid which whips my adrenals. (I do take coconut oil in small amounts but will not use it in large amounts like with cooking).
Anyhow my husband made me homemade crab rangoons last night and I forced myself to eat a lot of them. I became very ill and crashed and every-time I tried to go to sleep I became very panicky and would wake up with feelings of impending doom. This went on for hours.
I know it was the grape seed oil because it was dripping out of the wonton wrappers and I ate more oil than normal and could tell the oil was making me feel very heavy and that I should not eat more but I did it anyways.
I just read that grapeseed oil is very high in Linoleic
acid. I also read linoleic acid lowers cholestrol, which is something we need, so am wondering if that affected my adrenals in a negative way?
I would not think it would lower my cholestrol that fast just from eating an abundance of the oil last night. I'm thinking for whatever reason that linoleic acid might be OK in small amounts ,but might not be good in large amounts for those of us with adrenal fatigue. Does anyone know why? I'm going back to cooking with butter in the mean time.
BTW, I was able to eat a fatty protein (angus beef) and it stopped the crash and I was able to go back to sleep after eating it.
