My friend has this--just learned the name now.
he has seveRAL UNDER THE EYES, AND NOW HAS DEVELOPED a few on the eyelids, near the elelashes.
What is (likely) going on in the body?(beyond the appearance level) -- and what can be taken, herbally.
I read this can be dealt with by exfoliation, but that sounds like coming from the wrong direction...
Is this a liver issue?
he had his gallbladder removed about 13 years ago...
I am always trying to interest him in liver cleaning, but he works long hours, and is concerned about being 'out of commission'. Hasn't yet felt inspired, to the point of past trepidation... Any ideas?
PS--this is why I want to make this liver tonic--dandelion, burdock, yellow dock. something simple.
Can you think of other simple things he can do, liver0wise?
I feel that if I can get him doing something that he gets real results from, then he'll have more energy to approach doing more...
thanks, HV

Milia is not a liver issue. It fact it is most commonly seen in newborns. Although supporting the liver and cleansing is always a good idea at least one in a while.
Milia is a small cyst from a build up a dead skin cells. So exfoliation would be the best choice. I have mentioned in the past about making a paste of rice bran and ginger root powder and adding enough water to make a paste. The rice bran is a mild lubricating abrasive. Ginger contains strong protein digesting enzymes to eat away the dead skin cells. So the paste us used to mildly scrub the skin for a few minutes then rinsed off.
I'm just now wondering, is it possible I'm wrong about what these are--and maybe they are cholestoral, or something like that...
Not likely. Cholesterol deposits would have more of a yellowish color as where milia is whitish. It would be hard to mistake one for the other.
It seems bizarre that someone would have dead skin cells building up in this way. What would CAUSE this?
Possibly an issue with cAMP levels that play a role in keratin fiber formation, or possibly an issue with niacinamide levels since niacinamide increases keratin production.
thanks
by the way, that sounds like an excellent base for a general facial cleanser. :-) Maybe some coriander?
I still like rice bran mixed with ginger powder and a little water as a mild facial scrub and enzymatic exfoliant.
