The Worms Go In
Several years ago, I read a very brief article in a mainstream newspaper about a very small University of Iowa study that was conducted with people with CFS. The study participants drank a "worm cocktail". Seven of the eight participants had spectacular results and wanted more; the eighth felt better, but not as much as the other seven. Perhaps not coincidentally, a couple of years ago, noted CFS physician Paul Cheney started recommending a parasite derivative, round worm peptides, in his treatment protocol to strengthen and rebalance the immune system.
Both of these factors just increased my horror at the thought of all the people who were going about trying to eradicate parasites in their bodies (and, in some cases, in their pets), without any idea of what was living in their bodies and how those organisms may be affecting them, for better or for worse. Instead, the assumption was that parasites are bad. Period.
