I just picked up a bunch from the park--windfall.
I'm sure it's good for something besides hair washing...
what is it?
Horse chestnut is primarily used to strengthen the blood vessels, treat varicose veins and decrease permeability of the blood vessels due to the aesculin.
hey, remember the song, war-what is it good for?
Yes, that is what came to mind when I read the heading.
so, what would I do with a basket of horse chestnuts?
Can you give me some guidance? I read that they have to be soaked in limewater, but I'm not sure how accurate that info is..
I rarely use horse chestnut so I don't know about its preparation. If I do us it I use the bark or leaves, not the fruits. The raw fruits do need to be soaked on lime and/or cooked though. I just don't know how long. For safety I would stick to external use making an extract them applying topically for varicose veins.
