Just wondering if anyone on here has taken accutane.
Is accutane considered a antibiotic?
Does it wipe out intestal flora like other Antibiotics .
I just know that its a vitamin A derivative.
Maybe wrong forum sorry, but people in this forum

I personally believe there is a link there somewhere. We're now seeing class action suits related to IBS, Crohns, and the like - purported caused by Accutane. It seems only logical to me that if indeed the drug is related to those conditions, that flora imbalance was caused or exacerbated by the use of Accutane.
There is probably a better explanation, and I've got more ideas - but simply put, I indeed believe there is a connection.- Re: Accutane and candida Sky12

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,670,816Yep, I took it and started getting getting abdominal and groin pain shortly thereafter. Not to mention depression. I've never been diagnosed with IBS by a medical doctor, but with bloody candida strands coming out of me I'm sure I more than qualify. I'd love to sue the bastards.

This is a reply to # 1,670,883I had a course of accutane 20 years ago, when I was at college. I didn'y know then what I do now but I can remember getting recurrent UTIs and symptoms of yeast overgrowth for quite some time after. just didn't recognise the signs then.have also had frequent bouts of infection since.

flora, in the way that Antibiotics do.
Or does the fact that the effects of accutane include many
intestinal disorders confirm this?
I'm not sure its necessarily true that intestinal disorders
are a direct result of a disturbed flora, although I believe there's strong opinion that this is the case.
