35 days now
The healing crisis has been consistent since 31.8 days and the detox is quite unpleasant. The nausia has increased and i have to say that i'm not liking it even a little bit and it's hard to get comfortable even laying down. I wish i could sleep a lot more, but it's been very difficult to fall asleep and generally i'll get 6 hours each day if i'm lucky.
The bright shining light here where this healing crisis is concerned is that i know something very important is happening within my body. : )
On one level i am ready to break the fast, but on a much more important level i know i need to wait until i emerge through this crisis, however long this may be, as breaking a fast in mid crisis is a notoriously bad plan (with the rare exception of nutrient depletion forcing the issue) and it is essential to allow the body to finish dealing with this current situation before breaking.
It will be interesting to see how many more days the crisis will persist and i will likely take advantage of the first day of feeling good to break the fast. This could turn out to be as soon as 35.5 days (which seems unlikely), it might be 40 days or it may be even longer.
I will then hopefully accomplish what is left of my goals in the next fast, perhaps in another 2 or 3 months, the goals once again being a completely healed heart, the elimination of all toxemia, and the return of genuine hunger, all of which now seem unlikely to be achieved this time around, though still not impossible : ).
Mighty,
All best wishes for feeling better as soon as possible. You, again, deserve SO much credit for what you are doing. What amazing work. THANK YOU... Know that you are not alone in what you are going through! Your crisis will all be over satisfactorily very soon, I am sure.
Hi Powerray,
Thank you so much :).
I am being seriously lifted up by what you are going through and brought into the willingness to lift up my own life by doing it myself. I have needed support recently with my "food sobriety" and you have provided a much-needed validation of fasting for me.
I'm genuinely happy to have been of any help : ).
Great that something so important is happening in your body.
Yes and may it pass quickly ;). Thank you again Powerray : ).
I can totally relate to what you've said:
...
What exacerbated the discomfort, nausea and unpleasantness during the last chapter of my 40-Day fast was the fact that, like you, i could not sleep more than 4-6 hours a day (which is apparently normal).
Hey Waterdesign :),
There are entirely too many parallels in our fasts ;).
Ever wanted to be an online Scrabble Champion? Yea, me neither...
Funny stuff ;).
but it woulda been better than cooking shows and self-defeating thoughts.
true enough.
You've worked so hard to get to this stage. You may as well make peace with your current weaked and sleepless state,...
This helped me to re-evaluate things. Having had such a hard time falling asleep at the normal time, i was concerned with having slipped into such abnormal sleeping hours and your point made me decide to get as much sleep as possible whenever i can and let the sleeping patterns get back to normal after the fast. This morning i went back to sleep for another 1.5 hours not worrying that it might make it harder to get to sleep earlier that night.
... because if you Break before your body wants you to, you're going to be all the more weak anyway, I suspect (my experience). I imagine breaking prematurely on a long fast is akin to sticking a rod to stop a rapidly spinning bicycle wheel - there are going to be repercussions.
right and agreed :).
I'm planning a long-ish (21-day?) WF in the next few months. I'm thinking to start either the August or Sept long-weekend, and will be back then.
Sounds great, will look forward to that.
So hang in there, buddy!... I wish you well, Mighty.
Thank u so much Waterdesign, same to you :).
mighty, please ensure you keep a check on your Blood Pressure and other vital signs: any marked and permanent change is reason to break the fast, and regardless of detox.
Hi Chris,
Thank you again for the essential information. I am checking my Blood Pressure and heart rate each morning and so far both have been stable. Also making sure my breathing and body temperature remain normal which they have.
I have another couple of questions for you.
1) What range of time is this crisis likely to last, having begun at 31.8 days and now we're at 36.1?
2) My nausia went away for about 12 hours from 35.2 to 35.7 days and i considered taking that opportunity to break the fast, but since my extreme weakness and dizziness remained i thought i had better not (the nausia has returned and persists but is lighter). I am clear on the point that nausia should be gone, but otherwise how good do i need to be feeling before i should break the fast? Would it be a mistake to break the fast nausia free but feeling extreme weakness and dizziness? What is your opinion on this? Thanks!
may God bless u mighty... either way much respect to you for making it this far and i pray your heart gets all the healing that it needs. i was wondering in what way it got hurt if you dont mind me asking.
Hi Soldier :),
Thank you very much, may God bless you too and much respect to you as well for all you have accomplished :).
Thank you also for your prayers for my heart. My story is documented here: http://www.stevepavlina.com/forums/health-fitness/32718-beautiful-fast-4.html...
if you havent broken your fast yet it seems we are fasting together. im on day 36 now.
Nice, this is awesome :).
also i think it would be an amazing accomplishment if you did achieve elimination of all toxemia. i would love to hear about that and what it feels like and if youve read about anyone who has actually achieved that please send me a link.
Yes it's an awesome goal and i am truly eager to experience it. I have been working hard to reach it over multiple recent long fasts. I know Chrisb1 has reached completion and i believe it was of the "elimination of all toxemia" type. Maybe he can provide more information on his experience and/or links that describe it.
good luck!!!
Thanks much and same to you :).
