I just watched the amazing documentary "The Gerson Miracle" that was available through Neflix instant watch (and also DVD).
I've seen many good alt health type documentaries including others on Gerson but this one is the best I've seen. Amazingly comprehensive, clear and poigniant.
One thing that really struck me was the apparent synergy between Budwig and Gerson even though Budwig was never mentioned. But Gerson DID state that the one and only fat source he recommended was Flax Seed Oil - calling it a miracle oil. Just like Budwig.
Take the raw Gerson diet, extensive juicing and add in the Budwig flax seed/cottage cheese mix, Sourkraut, Sunshine, coffee enemas etc with strict adherence, and it would have to be the most powerful anti-cancer, anti-disease program in the world. Interesting that Gerson and Budwig with both German and came to similar conclusions but with different (but synergistic) approaches.
As many know here I've been on the Budwig diet for over 4 years after a colorectal tumor made bowel movements stop for me completely and surgery looked like the only alternative.
Before going in for the surgery I gave Budwig a try and within 2 days I was going agin. Since that time the tumor has shrunk, and I've lived an absolutely normal lifestyle of long work hours (that have made full compliance impossible), vigorous sports activities, family life (with twin teenaged boys), etc.
I know if I'd submitted to chemo, radiation and surgery 4 years ago, not only would I not have a normal lifestyle, but I doubt I'd even have life at all at this point (speculation of course).
I've recently gotten much more into juicing a la Gerson and find it's made an incredible difference in my vitality and feeling of healthfulness. I'd love to have the luxury of not working or working a reduced schedule enough to combine the two protocols on a strict basis.
Since I don't feel or appear sick at all, and work is so critical right now I can't do it. But if I were in an advanced and debilited state from Cancer (or any degenerative disease) I would have all the faith in the world about following these two protocols.
From what I can see there's nothing incompatible much less mututally exclusive between Budwig and Gerson.
In any case rush out to see "The Gerson Mircale" on Netflix streaming, DVD or maybe youtube.com Fantastic and most complete natural health doc I've seen.

I have come to the same conclusion, I have been following the Budwig diet for my colon cancer...it has stopped growing....now i shall be introducing the complimentary gerson therapy (as best as i can).
It is wonderful to stumble accross these two geniuses who have independantly reached the same conclusions...gerson only came accross budwig late on in his life despite his search for an oil that could be used without re-staring cancer in his patients.
Its also interesting to note that cottage cheese has a very low sodium and a very high potassium content!!
I am a little unsure about the level of physical excercise recommended by these gurus...any help?

This is a reply to # 1,664,253John - have you had mainstream treatment or only Budwig so far? I don't remember either's position exactly on exercise, though I know neither were against it.
For the most part both Budwig and Gerson were tolerated as long as they were because they took patients that were given up on by doctors. So exercise was a very limited option for most patients. Until recently mainstream medicine has always had the position that exercise is bad or the cancer patient. They subjectively figured it would cause its' spread (based on no science), though recent research has been clear that exercise definitely DOES improve outcomes.
Since I never had chemo/rad/surgery I've kept my normal lifestyle including tennis, racquetball, gym, hiking etc. I feel MUCH better when I exercise and I know it's had lots to do with my continuing to do as well as I have. (Though Budwig is the most crucial so far, and the Gerson juicing definitely helps with stamina and vitality).
One thing is that where I live we're blessed with fantastic walking/hiking trails. And being in nature, getting the extra blast of oxygen, the sunlight and the sense of connectedness and well being is huge. I don't even do fast walking, but leisurely usually listening to some kind of audiobook or even doing a silent mantra. Almost a walking meditation, and it's incredibly relaxing and recharging.
Bottom line - stress reduction is crucial part of any cancer treatment that works. And especially being male (I would think) exercise is critical for dealing with stress. But obviously the body needs it for optimum functioning in any case.
Sorry to go on and on, but its nice to connect with someone that's been going through something similar! Take care.

This is a reply to # 1,664,353Many thanks for taking the trouble to reply, like you i sacked the surgeon before he could get his scalpel out!!! it is definately their treatment that is alternative....I love Charlotte gersons quote "people are dying of cancer because people are living off cancer".
the great news is that my partner has decided to do the gerson therapy with me...that will make it so brilliant, up to now we have had a very difficult time with shopping and cooking.
I too love walking, and cycling and was on the brink of re joining the gym until i realised that it is a waste of money!!!! when we have the beautiful welsh hills on our doorstep, how much better to tramp for a dozen miles over grassland and through forest.
I have done a lot of research into cancer treatments of all kinds and rekon i understand the causes that create the symptoms. max gerson and Joanna budwig were sure kicking the ball in the same direction.

This is a reply to # 1,665,098Well done! And having someone going in with you on the treatment is fantastic. I could adhere so much better if my wife were on board. But at least she shares my views of what a fraud modern medicine is, and doesn't roll her eyes anymore when I make my Budwig Brew in the morning. And at least she joins me now on the juicing portion (so no complaints).
I didn't remember the "people are dying of cancer because people are living off cancer" quote, but, wow, it doesn't get more succinct than that.
With the Welsh hills to hike and bike through I'm very jealous. What makes me feel best is long walks in nature as many days as I can swing it, and then vigorous exercise maybe 2 or 3 times a week (racquetball, singles tennis, weight lifting, jogging).
Here's a strange (and somewhat personal) question for you since we seem to be in such a similar situation. Here in the states, the media pushes cancer as the most tragic horrific curve that life can throw at you. "The Big C" death warrant. Images of shaved heads, pallid complexions, hemorrhaging, gurneys, IV's etc etc.
One big shock for me is that it somehow doesn't bother me - at all! I have zero obsessiveness with it even though I have a wife and two 15 year old boys depending on me.
Maybe it's because I've already seen such good progress with these natural cures that not only don't destroy your life but actually make you feel better than ever. Logically I fully realize I have a tiger by the tail - yet oddly enough I feel zero palpable fear. I guess my question is do you feel you also have any kind of under-reaction to this?
A simple yes or no would suffice. I'm just trying to understand my own attitude...lol and thanks.

This is a reply to # 1,666,330John, that's REALLY a healthy attitude - and no doubt true. Whether we're wise, self deluded or under-reactive - it's clear that our lack of anxiety works as an important part of the cure.
And having the picture with you keeps you focused. My biggest problem is complacency which causes me to get lax or completely non-compliant when I'm feeling fine (which is most of the time).
Having two teenage sons and a business to run in this economy keeps me distracted enough and I need to get more compliant with Budwig, juicing etc. Maybe our support group of 2 will do the trick!..lol

This is a reply to # 1,672,069Support group of two lol...i like that idea, luckily for me my two kids have left home...and the quack has given me a sick note for 3 months so i have quite a lot of time to stay on the topic....I am still trying to piece together a complete therapy that encompasses the body, mind and spirit...and still allows you to have a life!!!!
I feel i am close now to perfecting the trinity by using budwig and gerson for the body advice, eft visualisation and relaxation for the mind, and buddha for the spirit!!!! not a bad tag team.
Dont beat yourself up for not being perfect...i believe that even if you are able to do 10% then that will be enough to tip the see-saw back in your favour.

Wow - EFT, Buddhism, hiking, Budwig, Gerson. Two peas in a pod for sure..lol And how great that you have 3 months to submerge yourself in this stuff (plus a government that has the minimal concern for its citizens to allow such a thing).
I'm definitely of the "if it feels good do it - and do it all" mentality. As you also seem to get it's even more about feeding the soul than the body.
Some of my favorites are long hikes listening to books on tape (one of my favorites is Ben Kingsley reading "Autobiography of a Yogi"), doing mantra, burning good smelling stuff at home, sweating out the toxins, in a Sauna, hanging out at bookstores for hours just reading whatever randomly grabs me, going to concerts (Classical, Indian, Flamenco), drinking all kinds of teas (ESSIAC, Yerba Mate, Pu-Erh, etc), listening to Buddhist and Hindu podcasts, getting massages (both calming and happy ending).
And I especially love now that I've left the corporate world to go back to just dressing, acting, believing as I like with absolutely no worries about the offended or puzzled looks along the way (just write me off as an old hippie - I'm fine with it).
In a nutshell feeding the body and soul large amounts of physical and soulful nutrients. I guess it's not that big a mystery that you can start feeling better than ever AFTER the diagnosis if you do this right ..lol- Re: The Gerson Miracle plus Budwig/G... johneastwood

I have a sauna at home too...and spend many happy hours sweating away.
Enjoy Essiac tea as welll, especially with loads of very expensive and indulgent manuka honey.mmmm.
Listening to the body is soooo important, i feel that if you really listen properly then the answer is there.
i was asked to have an interview with an oncologist at the hospital last week..it was wonderful...he admitted in the end that he was baffled as to why i was not worse than 6 months ago and as i left told me he had never seen anyone like me before in 26 years of oncology....made me feel fantastic, rekon i was the only one to have laughed out loud in his office in 26 years too..

How did the interview with the oncologist come about? Appeasing family/friends? That's amazing that even the Dr admits you're no worse than 6 months ago. Given professional pride etc, it probably means you're significantly improved.
All doctors know or suspect that they're frauds and snake oil/poison merchants. Their reaction when they come face to face with the evidence is always interesting. Some want to pass it off as some kind of fluke or miracle with this show of wonderment - others actually get angry about it (as happened to me).
But you know after decades of watching your patients get nothing but worse the more you prescribe and intervene - you'd have to realize you're just a well respected crook. Glad you laughed out loud during the interview. Nice work, and keep on keep'n on!

Ahh..the interview with the Doctor...in order to be able to apply for extra government money due to inability to work at the moment (not due to illness, but due to my super busy protocol)one has to placate the pencil pushers that demand proof from the highest sources...and it also keeps my dear old mum happy as she always taught us not to burn our boats lol...personally i would never return there, except it was very ineresting to see thw super expensive plush cancer centre that must have cost several million.
My surgeon wants to write a paper on me if i survive...he said this with a smirk...as neither he nor any of his colleagues have encounterd such a thing...my answer was...no you wouldnt..because you would be a laughing stock.
Anyhow...how are you getting on....tell me all my friend.

Your Doctor, OTOH, seems to have read the book from US physicians on bedside manner. Willing to "write a paper" on you "IF" you survive? What a guy! I hope you let him know his own life expectancy had just gone through the floor. Your quip was better anyway.
Nothing to report here health-wise. Still muddling through, being not very compliant with anything - but since my health still seems fine I've been more concerned with keeping one step ahead of the bankers - given the economy.
Hopefully things will get more comfortable business-wise so I can concentrate more on compliance with Budwig, Gerson, etc.

Hi guys,
I'm new here, making my first post. I'm off to explore more on curezone but I had a question I wanted to address to you specifically. My mother-in-law has been diagnosed with stage 2+ breast cancer, not metastisized yet (we think), and will not take medical treatment. I can't say I blame her, as medical treatment for cancer killed my mother some years ago. I have been very interested in nutritional therapy for years but now it's time to put my money where my mouth is I guess, as the treatment research and food production is up to me.
I'm glad to see that you both see Gerson and Budwig as complementary. I often see sites, especially for Gerson, who shun Budwig because of the dairy aspect.
This is a common theme, where alternative treatments often see themselves as insular, creating an 'us vs them' mentality that would be better applied to the nutrition vs. medical establishment divide.
Long question short, I would like to know what other nutrition based approaches you have found in your research that complement the Budwig and Gerson protocols. Any names or links you could provide would really give me a hand up with my research.
By the way, I have no idea when this thread was started ... I could be replying to a 1990s discussion here. ;)

- fertilized organic egg yolks from duck / chicken / goose - raw
- grass fed bone marrow of beef - raw
- fish fat / fish oil from fatty fish sashimi - raw
- grass fed beef back fat - raw
- raw butter
The magic word is RAW ANIMAL FAT.
You will find RAW ANIMAL FAT is superior to plant fats.

i am sold on the effect of the multiple bonds in flax seed oil when combined with sulfurated protein... as researched by Joanna Budwig...besides all that death for raw animal fats....turns my stomach im afraid.

but I have an empathy with those poor dear animals who are slaughtered to meet your needs.
Plants do not have a nervous system and succumb to being eaten much more easily and readily.
As an observation only: place a "live" rabbit and an apple with a toddler in its playpen: if the child eats the rabbit and plays with the apple, I'll give you one thousand dollars.

I am of no particular religious persuasion: whatever gave you that idea?
The closest I would describe myself is as a Humanitarian and/or altruist.
I also do not believe the "Veganazi" have an agenda in outlawing or forbidding meat-eating. It is just a way of eating that fits a mode of beliefs, while simultaneously coexisting with other forms of eating patterns.
