Hi, I'm sorry if I haven't kept up (congratulations, Trapper, on your grandbaby!).
I am freaked out.
I posted before about my baby testing hypothyroid a few weeks after birth.
Since that time, he's been on levoblahblah, the synthetic synthroid. At first, I was extremely upset about giving it to him daily. After a while, I became numb to the whole thing. This was not fully my decision. I was overruled.
Anyway, here at about a year, my baby is mostly doing great, normal, whatever. Um, except for a couple of things.
My child has 6 incisors, 4 on top, 2 on bottom. The ones on bottom are still nice and white. The ones on top are half yellowing, near the roots. This scares the !@#$!@#$ out of me. At first I thought it was plaque. I keep wiping his teeth, though, and I scraped with a fingernail. It doesn't look like it's coming off. And no, he doesn't drink tea or coffee :P nor does he take any Iodine
straight. In fact, I've been too scared to supplement much. I drop a little SSKI
in some of the things I cook, that's it.
Why are they turning yellow?!@#$!@#$
And then, suddenly my beautiful child is having hay fever. He didn't have a sign of this at all last year at this time. Now he's miserable. I had terrible hay fever as a child, lots of ear and lung infections, was a little "jaundiced," yadda yadda...everything always pointed to my liver. (And now I'm allergy free, but my husband's are terrible) I'm scared it's affecting his liver (and thus much more). The synthroid, I mean.
We are about to start weaning him off synthroid anyway. The doc has the blessing of the other docs in his group (eye roll), this pediatric endo. I don't care if they take their words back, I want him off, and I'm prepared to stop giving it to him if things don't look favorable to my way after this next doc visit and blood test (T4 & TSH).
My husband wants to ask about cortisol levels. I don't understand the connection, haven't had time to read and understand.
I thought this may be of interest to those of you following our story. If you have any information to point me to, I'd appreciate it. God bless all of you.
