Ah so many assumptions, and yet you know next to nothing about me. For one, I'm not a guy. I own and run my own business, and am in charge of the hiring, firing and payroll, so I do actually know what I'm talking about.
I simply have a different view of people, (employees in particular), than you do JMC. I run a very successful business because I value my employees, I pay them well, and have retained many of them for several years now. The business has grown by more than 200% during this time, (the business is still growing despite the economic downturn). During the GFC we simply did not hire any more staff, but looked after the staff we already had on the payroll. Now that times are good, we have loyal staff, who appreciate the fact that we didn't cut them off over the lean times. They realise that we pay above what we are required too, and give us a standard of work that is above that required of them. It works both ways. This has enabled myself and my partner to achieve well above what our original goals for the business were.
Your arguments for paying crap wages, and treating people like commodities, do not hold water when it comes to being a successful business owner and manager. Its more of an indication of what kind of person you are, than a reflection on any political ideology. I personally don't have a rigid political view, I'm liberal in some areas, conservative in others, and run my business according to good management strategy and fiscal policy, not political ideals.
