I do not know anything about the disease you mentioned but did read recently we only need about 5% protein in our diets and saw on Wikipedia that although protein is involved as well as micro-nutrient deficiencies, it is not enough and other nutrients are missing in order to have this diseases.
Of course, it could be some genetic defect which prevents some or all absorption even if one takes these nutrients.
I have read that people with leaky gut syndrome (leaking protein) have been helped by switching to a vegetarian diet. I am not sure if they mean vegan or merely vegetarian but I definitely remember reading that. Maybe the same results could be gotten with leaking protein from the kidneys that you mentioned.

this seems to fit with these two case histories I just mentioned. Now Boutenko did do some experiments on people on the standard American diet and varied diets and added just a
quart of green smoothies for a month and all the 40 or so participants in the study reported various improvements in their health.
Be sure to alternate the greens every day or two..some of the ones you can try include kale, collard greens, carrot, beet, radish and turnip tops/greens,watercress, parsley, swiss chard, spinach, romaine, bok choy, cabbage, Asian greens and wild greens like dandelion greens, red clover leaves, purslane, burdock, violet tops, cleavers, plaintain etc. Mix these in a blender or vitamix with different kinds of fruit you like and ice if desired.
If all else fails try 100% raw vegan whole food diet, lots of daily green smoothies varying the greens often, lots of fresh juices, and lots of living foods (sprouts/fresh from the land/garden/woods. fields plants) and then add to this the incurables program of Dr
