My experience with vit C;
for years I took 1-3 grams of vit c capsules (ascorbic acid) and did pretty good.
- then a period of 1 1/2 year of only natural vit c; in the form of amla and acerola
- then, after a while on
Iodine I started with magnesium ascorbate, this is my favorite but the last shipment was returned to sender as it is classified as a "drug" in my country..
- so now I am back to ascorbic acid; miraculously enough I can buy a kilo at a time at horse supplement shops (!)
All the time my diet has included approx 10 items of fruits, berries and vegetables daily + at least two oranges / limes/ grapefruits as juice, freshly made.
Conclusion; ? Yes; the "natural" period was when my health declined the most. I seem to need extra vit. C.
I loved the magnesium ascorbate, but there is no difference as I can see other than that I have to take magnesium separately from the ascorbic acid.
I have tried the sodium ascorbate; but I have a terrible reaction to bicarbs (it is buffered with bicarb of sodium) - mouth sores within minutes!
Just now I am doing fine with ascorbic acid 3-6 grams daily + acerola + triphala + grapefruit peel powder (flavonoids) in addition to my fruits and berries. I change the herbal mixture once in a while; after taste buds, what I can get hold of, and seasonally; need less in the summer when I can pick fresh leaves, berries and flowers etc.
