I see no one has answered you, so I'll give it a try...
Since I don't use coconut oil externally, I can't help with that. However, I do take some everyday. The recommended dosage is about 2 tablespoons per day. I mix a tablespoon of it into my daily serving of oatmeal. In my case, instead of the second tablespoon, I eat 2 teaspoons of flaked coconut. That, I mix into a fruit cup. I take the flaked coconut because it helps tremendously when it comes to dealing with IBS-D.
If you don't want to mix coconut oil into your food, GNC sells coconut oil capsules. That's how my husband gets his daily dosage since he doesn't like the taste of coconut. If you would rather take the capsules, you would need to take 4 per day. The label on the bottle explains how to do it.
