Now nothing will be accomplished in the government.
Is this really a bad thing? Government has its hands in many things every day. How many laws are there in the books?
I say let the state and local governments handle issues and don't continue to centralize power.
Power is already centralized.
It could be a lot worse. Based on your other posts, I think you believe it wouldn't be a bad thing at all. I didn't continue to post to you about your admiration for Cuba the other day.
I guess the stories about living in Cuba with their total disreguard for personal property and the rights of individuals don't mean anything? How about government coming into your house and arresting you on the grounds of rumors from your snitching neighbors? People disappearing after speaking against their government? These are some things I heard from Cubans who left the island to live here. Imagine living under that sort of oppression. You feel powerless and not even your own property and the things you grow on the land you live by is yours.
It is no wonder the framers of the Constitution created laws that limit government.
If I remember correctly, I said that Cuba's Health Care System was the best in Latin America. I didn't say that I wanted to live there. There are good and bad things connected to all governments.
Yes that is what you stated. If I remember correctly, I did also recall some posts of yours supporting socialism although it is a bit different from communism.
You like reading about Cuba's healthcare system so I will give you this link:
Hi again Tiki, I'm going to attempt reaching your intellect and rationale Tiki, simply because what you have just said makes me oh, so very sad, my friend. You have just completely slandered a whole group of people, folks of whom you know absolutely zilch about, simply because you have read and swallowed the cleverly crafted propaganda by the ever lying left.
You see Tiki, your ignorance in this matter is so very obvious that if it wasn't so tragic it would just be embarrassing. Tiki, Cuba was NOT a third world country! Far from it. It had one of the highest standards of living of any country in the world. Furthermore Tiki, the people of Cuba did not elect the government that has held them captive for over 1/2 a century, and if they did support it initially, I'm here to tell ya that it was a very short honeymoon before they realized they had jumped from a frying pan into a very literal burning hell.
No, that web page isn't just the disingenous creation of some right wing fanatics, as you say. I don't think you even read the site, Tiki.....that's hardly an academic approach, knocking something that you are at a disadvantage from knowing, simply by merit of your alienation, without even reading the presented material !!!! You bash the source and state absolutely, absurdly, ridiculous and false assumptions based on your own prejudices and affinity for pre-digested socialist propaganda. Boo waah....
I could address every point in your post with precision Tiki, but I fear it would be a major waste of time. But believe me when I tell you that you are very, very wrong. I would not speak to you this way if I myself did not have some first hand knowledge of this subject, but unlike you, I DO know many Cubans; they are my neighbors, co-workers, friends...and in one case..relatives.
No Tiki, the World Health Organization (that's a whole other story) is not above the first hand experience of thousandas upon thousands of people. Cuban Americans are not just some drooling-at-the-mouth- fanatics, as you've been told. They are a conservative, hard working, family oriented people who carry the horrible burden of having lost their original homeland, and if that weren't enough, they have to endure the ever present slander upon them by the ideologies of the very same type of people who expatriated them in the first place, and by their blind followers...people just like you - Tiki! Part of it, in my opinion, is that as a minority it is contrary to their fiber to cry out for affirmative action, etc., so they become the only minority that is politically correct to bash. That, added to the fact that many of the first wavers were white, makes them into a very unsavory group of people for some agendas.
And by now, you and perhaps some others reading this thread are saying; 'oh, who cares, what does all this matter anyway?'.....But you see Tiki, it does matter, very much. Because now as well as for the entire history of mankind, experience is the best teacher. And when you encounter people who can clearly see and read the writing on the wall, it denotes wisdom on the part of the listener to heed their warnings. Simple stuff Tiki.
In objectively and intelligently analyzing the REAL history of Cuba, we should be able to glean much discernment and understanding. This could prove invaluable at some...ooh, hypothetical situation far into the distant future....hmmm....certainly nothing like our present day circumstances, no, no way.
I'm just saying....

Thanks for the show of support, and for the link. Perhaps you've heard of Humberto Fontova? He has writtten several books on Fidel and Che, the worshipped assasins. Fontova is a very impassioned writer who has no patience for the barrage of lies which have been built up for years around these guys, but the left absolutely despises him and ad hominem attacks are hurled at him with gusto every chance they get. Well., certainly you kow how that goes....right? :-)
Tiki all you've got to do is download of copy of the healthcare bill and read it for yourself and you'll see it IS true!
I want to think that you are really a kind hearted but mislead soul. But then I notice that you have outright defied me to my very face and that you obviously have not read a single word of all that I wrote you. Hopefully others reading these threads are not as driven to being purposefully obtuse.
I do not need to go searching all over the inernet to "verify" things of which I am more than passingly aware and which happen to be in my very own backyard !!!!
Good luck with your rationed health care.
Oh, come on Tiki, stop pretending the higher ground and give me the courtesy of reading what I write.
I didn't say I don't verify what I read Tiki. I said I have no need to go looking for verification into things that I already know amply well are true.
If you were to read a Siberian website which states that the statue of Liberty in NYC is purple, would you need to go looking for "proof" that it's actually green? Wouldn't you feel a tad silly trying to convince them way over in Siberia that they're wrong? Then again, I don't know....perhaps to you madam liberty really is purple...I guess it's all relative, huh? Never mind, don't answer...
Your assumptions make and ASS out of both - you and me.
Life is full of surprises...I call them "learning opportunities"
¡VIVA CUBA LIBRE!
