Hi I am new to this forum but i think i have something to contribute , I have been suffering from exfoliative cheilitis from past 10 years . I allways use to bite my lips but 10 years back the cycle of peeling started and never stopped , I used scissors to chap inside part of the lips and manage with cold cream for years but it never helped me . now i took off from work for 2 months and I have decided to try each and every method. I know it look hidious but i dont want to loose hope nor want to lick my lips and disturb the process.
Things that helped and dint.
1 . Not applying anything to lips made my lips more dry and miserable and it did not help me or my condition.
2. I started using Clotrimizol Cream for 5 days everyday 5 times and it did help me and my lips became little normal but the 5 days when i was appllying the cream was tereble time i did not lick them even once , I brushed my teeth and atlest i had temporary relief but i suffered gastric issues with the cream later i discontinued when lips were Okay and problem again persisted may be i should have tried using it for a long time.
3 . Now i am using hydrocortisone from past 5 days and I stopped brusing my teeth but I am using mouth wash and trying to brush my teeh gently once without paste as i dont want to disturb the wound . I Know this is bad and no explosure to water means no washing face with soap, I take bath but face i wipe it with water soaked towel.
I want to go for my Tyroid test soon as it could be possible reason , Iorn Deficiency and Vitamin B12 deficiency test and also saliva test.
This 2 months no matter how hard it will take i wont lick my lips and try all methods to find some relief .
If some one has any solution Please let me know .
By not brushing teeth with paste is making scab dry .
This 10 days i took appointement with couple of doctors and let me see what they have to say .
Now i feel there is nothing important than finding a soloutin t this issue , No matter how much i spend or how hidious my lip looks in course of treatment .
Hope something works If so i will let you guys know , If there is somthing i should know please tell me . I am tierd with this peelingGoogle Advertisement

I am new here as well so I can't comment on some of your methods because, I am just as clueless! But here is what I do know.
Not brushing your teeth is not going to help anything. If you want to use a toothpaste that is gentle on the lips try biotene. When brushing your teeth lift your neck up and look at the ceiling. This will keep the paste and saliva off your lips. When you are finished spit it out the side of your mouth.
Using mouthwash can be detrimental however. Make sure it does not contain any alcohols which will wreak havoc on your lips. Honestly I find it best to avoid mouthwash altogether.
Now I can tell you what hasn't worked for me. Steroids of varying strength and Protopic. While these will keep the inflammation down it is only a temporary solution.
Hopefully somebody here can point you in the right direction with your other questions. But in the meantime I have found a wealth of knowledge all throughout this forum. Check it out!Google Advertisement

Toothpaste is a common cause of cheilitis, especially the whitening ingredients, artificial sweeteners, red coloring, and cinnamon flavoring that are often in toothpaste.
So first of all, make sure your toothpaste doesn't have whitening, cinnamon flavoring, or red coloring.
It is much harder to get toothpaste without artificial sweeteners, even the "organic" kind, so you might not be able to buy a product that doesn't have artificial sweeteners.
Some people here use a homemade toothpaste of plain baking soda (you can get a box at the supermarket for 99 cents) and water on their toothbrush to brush their teeth, which is what many people used to use in the olden days and a lot of people use even today, and that will be much better for your oral health than just rinsing with mouthwash.

Mouthwash also can be a cause of cheilitis. If you must use it, you want to avoid mouthwash that has red coloring or cinnamon flavoring. You also want to avoid mouthwash that contains alcohol.

If you want to clean the mouth of bacteria, instead of mouthwash, every couple of days you can use a diluted bit of 3% hydrogen peroxide (dilute it in an equal part of water!) and swish that around for a minute in your mouth. Do not swallow it, you must spit it all out. (It also has the effect of gently whitening the teeth because hydrogen peroxide is a bleach.)

Tomorrow I have an appoinmenti with my doctor. In order to review my lips.

One was cured with prozac.
Two cases was product of teh tothcream.
One was product of the soap user to wash glases.
But is a fact The source is the inflamatory condition in the vermellon part of the lip.
