Hello again Chris,
Thank you very much for your reply. I actually wasn't as specific in my question as i meant to be. Primarily in this section of the book, Dr. Shelton addressed the changes in intelligence while in the fast. What i was really interested in was the aftermath, the days, weeks and months to follow.
The one place that seemed to address both during the fast and the post fast was here:
Shelton: "Why should fasting result in an increase in mental abilities? Primarily, I think, because it affords the body an opportunity to throw off its load of toxins, hence the brain is fed by a cleaner blood-stream."
Only problem is that i am helping a friend to find an answer to this question and though there is no higher authority on fasting than Dr. Shelton, it's hard to go back to him with "he thinks" :).
Is there any additional good information out there that addresses more specifically the lasting effects of fasting on intelligence?
I thank you once again for the amazing help you are always willing and able to provide.
Quotes by Chris:
"I think you will find though that the only reason you will "feel better" during and after some exercise while fasting, is that toxins are being inhibited from entering the bloodstream."
"It is the process of toxins entering the bloodstream during a fast, under ideal conditions of complete rest, that makes the faster feel worse, sometimes nauseous, weak and sick."
Hi Mamaducky,
With maximal respect for you as always, i have come to agree with chris on this. In my own experience in my most recent fast of 30 days, i was walking briskly for 2 hours per day in the first 21 days and felt great and energetic each and every day. When i brought the exercise down to about 15-20 minutes/day over the final 9 days i felt greater elimination symptoms through i believe greater elimination, through i believe a greater level of rest. The experience made me realize that i want to exercise minimally in the next one.
So chris, to most optimally balance complete rest with lymphatic action to achieve the greatest possible amount of elimination and healing in a fast, would you recommend about 5 minutes of gentle rebounding three times per day... or... ?
Thanks again!
"The 5-step elimination process as detailed on fastingconnection.com is maybe 3-5 minutes of exercise 1-3 times a day. I don't think that is in any way excessive."
Intuitively i believe what you are saying is true. I actually believe chris might agree with this amount of exercise as being optimal on a fast too if i dare to speculate. Still looking forward to his opinion on this. Since my goal in a fast is to cleanse as much as i can as fast as i can, I'm wanting to get to the bottom of what the optimal balance between rest and exercise (lymph movement) is. We 3 will agree that 2 hours of exercise is probably too much ;). Since reading your post about the 5 steps 2 days ago, i have been doing it each day... as i have been on a new rebounder the past 2 days :).
"I wish I would have known this process while on both of my 21-day fasts as I think I would have felt better throughout it."
I believe all chris is saying is that we should not believe that feeling better in a fast when we are exercising more means we are cleansing more. It probably means we are cleansing less. I am genuinely sorry if u feel this is totalitarian.
Mamaducky, if you were to stop posting in here, i for one would miss you and your thoughtful insights.
