Here is a great opportunity to see the balancing mechanisms at work. Yes, theoretically all the people in the cold states should die much sooner. But theory is not the same as practice. In reality, since they can't afford to be as wastefull with their resources as people who live in temperate zones, they intuitively do things to make them live longer.
Look at bears. Bears eat so much, that they can't afford to be trying to stuff their gob in the winter. So they fast for half the year, then come out to eat again. Mainsteam science is still scratching its head over this, because mainstream science rejects breatharianism. Yet there are many creatures on this planet who can go without eating for up to eight months in a single go. That's a long time to not be eating anything, regardless of how large your last meal was.
Sunlight is one of the most powerfull healing devices known to man. It may even be more healthy than exercise. Watch the animals. They know when to lay out on the rocks, and when to hide in their den. Even with this most basic evidence of the usefullness of sunlight, the media still touts sunscreen and a whole host of other silliness to prevent the sun from reaching your skin. In reality, it is those very same things which have damaged the body. The body has become so toxic that it can't even handle UV rays without developing cancer. But people blame the sun on giving them cancer, instead of blaming the energy from the sun exciting the TOXINS in the skin... giving them cancer.
