This is my second round with AF. My first was 4 yrs ago and holistic dr gave me cortisone and natural thyroid plus diet. I knew little about AF back then but did not like the meds so I tapered off after 6 mos. My symptoms subsided a little. Then my stress level was elevated again and new symptoms of hair loss and flare up of eczema appeared. I think I had candida too because I woke up one day and my face was so white and puffy I hardly recognized myself in the mirror.
I started with a strict candida diet and eliminated my one joy in life, coffee. Since I don't drink alcohol or eat candy or anything with
Sugar the rest was easy. I followed the diet in the book The Skin Cure Diet
http://www.skincurediet.com
and The Body Ecology Diet which are very similar. I started using anti-fungals, and rotating them weekly: Olive Leaf Extract from East Park Research, raw garlic, grapefruit seed extract and coconut oil.
Then I started a plan to build my adrenals by using Adrenal Caps by Solaray which contains a combination of bovine adrenal glands, herbal activators and homeopathic cell salts. Also Vit C is very important as well as B complex and pantethine, a more biologically active form of vitamin B5. Then I added Enzymatic Therapy ADRENergize which contains adenal cortex complex plus mutli glandulars. Some people advocate using ONLY herbal activators like licorice root, ashwaganda, eleuthero, gotu kola and others. That is something you have to research and decide for yourself what to use. I find the glandulars are more effective than herbs only – FOR ME - you may find they work for you.
The main thing that is so important with AF is to eliminate anything that causes stress. That includes people, places, things, events and situations that cause any type of anxiety or confrontation. This is hard because those who have AF find it difficult to stand up for ourselves and say no. It is not because we are pushovers it is because our body just does not have that extra umph that our adrenal glands supply us with to get the job done. Don’t be hard on yourself. Just realize the need to do your homework and concentrate on getting better. Tune out those that can’t sympathize with how you are feeling.
If you can find a good ND that deals with AF and hypothyroid then go to them. Make sure you don’t go to a mainstream medical doctor, they will NOT recognize AF nor will they know how to interpret the test for your thyroid function. Only a doctor trained specifically for AF and/or thyroid will be able to help you.
Just keep coming back to Curezone and read all the posts on the Adrenal Fatigue and Hypothyroid forums especially those with R, RR and RRR. Most everyone here has been where you are and we know how it feels.
