I do have leaky gut, but I dont know whats causing it.
Most common causes are lack of intestinal flora and intestinal inflammation.
Would plantain leaf help for leaky gut in the healing stage?
Plantain leaf contains allantoin, which is also found in comfrey. It is a cellular stimulant, which helps with repair of injured tissues. So it would be a good idea.
Also do some people need a larger dose of yucca root if the inflammation caused by crohns etc is real bad?
It would not hurt. The saponins in yucca root are not absorbed, so the root has virtually no side effects. If you take too much the primary side effect will be diarrhea. You do have to be careful though with yucca if you have any gasto-intestinal bleeding. Saponins and blood do not mix well.
I also like licorice root for a steroidal anti-inflammatory, and it is an excellent adaptogen for the adrenals. So you may want to add some licorice root to the yucca root.
What dose can we safely go up too?
If you are using the powder I would not exceed a teaspoon 3 times daily.
Yucca does help me but I dont no if that is helping an undiscovered IBD, or its just helping my leaky gut symptoms?
Yucca can help by reducing inflammation, and it also helps to build up the flora. Between these two yucca can help with a variety of bowel issues.
Does Leaky Guy put more stress on the liver?
Yes, and the adrenals as the liver has to deal with the toxins being absorbed. The adrenals have to deal with the allergic responses from the absorption of intact foreign proteins.
Is this toxin related stress?
The primary factor is a lack of intestinal flora, which can drop from antibiotics, stress, and poor diet.
Another great use for plantain leaf is for insect bites. Take a piece of leaf and chew it to release the enzymes. Then apply the chewed leaf to the bite to take the sting or itching out.
Can too much exercise do any harm to the body (700/800 cals per day of cardio)?
As long as you are healthy enough for exercise then it is not likely to do any harm. Of course there is wear and tear on the joints with high impact exercise, which is again why silica is so important. And there is risk of injury to tendons and ligaments so make sure to warm up before exercise, and build up to harder workouts.
What can be done to test for an over active thyroid, as opposed to an underactive thryoid. Is hypothyroidism more common than hyperthryoidism?
Symptoms are the best indicator. Symptoms of hyperthyroidism include high body temperature, diarrhea, and bulging of the eyeballs. Hyperthyroidism is pretty rare, as where hypothryodism is pretty common.
What can be done to sort out both gallstones and kindeystones?
For gallstones Iike bitters, lecithin granules, and increased fiber intake. Stay away from estrogen and progesterone therapies as these increase the risk of gallstones.
For kidney stones I prefer nettle leaf and magnesium malate, which will work against both uric acid and calcium oxalate stones.
