There are a lot of misconceptions about the Atkins diet. There are also a number of ways to follow it, from super-strict to less strict and from healthy to less healthy.
I have a gluten-intolerance, blood-sugar issues and seem to also be sensitive to a lot of grains and high-carbohydrate foods as well, and have done very well on Atkins. I basically follow a lot of the principles of Atkins without really thinking about it now. Everyone is different and some people, like myself, do better with less carbohydrates and more protein and good fats. Also, the Atkins diet does not have just one set amount of carbohydrates for everyone, it is different for each person depending on their sensitivity to carbs. I have a high sensitivity to carbs and feel better on less, whereas my boyfriend for example feels great on more carbs.
If she is sticking to organic grass-fed meats, wild fish, nuts and as much organic veggies as she can eat with the addition of good fats such as avocados and olive oil, and whole fruits such as berries, she will be fine. If she eats a bunch of processed foods, then she will lose some of the benefits of her previous cleansing and fasting. She will also see how she feels after a few weeks whether it makes her feel good or not. For me, it definitely made me feel better.
She will gain weight back if she suddenly goes from a low-carb to high-carb diet. To follow the Atkins diet correctly, you are supposed to gradually add in more carbs. Also like most diets, if you don't make it a lifestyle, then it usually causes almost anyone to gain weight back.
