I'm having laser hair removal. In fact today is my first treatment. So I can't tell you how effective it is but I've have had the spot test done and it went very well no scarring or discoloration. If you do decide to do it be aware that it is rather expensive each treatment for body is costing me $350 dollars and I will need approximatly 6 treatments. It costs less for the face, $200 per 30 min session. During my consultation they told me that fair skinned people with dark hair (black) are the best candidates. As far as it hurting, I only got zapped 3 times during the spot test but even at the highest setting I didn't think it hurt all that much, definatly less than a rubber band snapping, I thought..
I was also told that because of my PCOS and my hormones being whacky that there is a greater chance of regrowth. Also keep in mind it is not permanent removal, it's long term at best. I would recommend trying to take supplements to get your hormones stabalized before you invest all the cash in LHR, since if you still have a bunch of androgens floating in your system vellus hairs will turn terminal.
P.S
I'll write back in a couple of months to report on the results.
