In my last update, i said 20 days was my next mini-goal, so i am well pleased that this goal has now been met.
20.4 days now. The end draws near, or so it seems. It could be another day or it could be another 10, but I won't likely go beyond 30 days unless i feel quite differently by then which remains a distinct possibility. I still hope to experience a return to genuine hunger before then, but i can't help but wonder if that may be too much to hope for.
I continue to feel well and asymptomatic. Continue to "dry-fast" comfortably for 18-20 hours each day, drinking only within a 4-6 hour window and only "to thirst" therein. It's been about 10 days of this now. Basically i feel today much the way i felt when i updated 4 days ago, so there's not much to add.
Weight Log at 20.4 days:
Scale weight and "estimated real weight" upon start of fast: 192
Scale weight today: 160.25
Overall weight loss: (which means nothing): 31.75
Estimated real weight today: 176.1 (Estimated body fat: 9.5%).
Estimated real weight loss (fat loss):15.9
Estimated temporary weight loss incl. water, intestinal content and other (i consider the small amount of protein i am losing to be temporary as well, expecting to put back double that amount within a very short time upon refeeding with a newly rejuvenated supercharged body): 15.85
Note that this 15.85 pounds of temporary loss will most assuredly be back on my body within 2-3 weeks of breaking the fast.
Feeling pretty great. Next mini goal is 21 days, then 22, then 23. Keeping it simple
. Would prefer not to break fast before at least 25 days (or an immensely preferential return to genuine hunger), but we will see what happens.
Thank you Msvic,
"curious...how are you able to break down the "real weight loss" from the "overall weight loss?""
I knew from many previous fasts that a good percentage of weight loss was tempory, mostly consisting of water (intestinal contents being 2nd) and especially in the first week or so. Each time i re-fed, regardless of how light i was eating, i would put 10 or more pounds back on very quickly, generally within 2-3 weeks.
The breakdown of estimated fat loss vs. estimated temporary loss was based on the following. I began at 192 pounds with a bmr of of what i estimated to be about 3000 calories and estimated roughly that this dropped by 200 per day for 3 days so i was then at about 2400... and then estimated a drop of about 100 per day for the next several days and then a 50 per day drop for the next several days.
I estimated fat burning to protein burning to be about 10:1, estimated 2 hours of brisk walking per day to burn about 800 calories per day which equates to about .225 pounds per day from that alone (3600 calories equates to 1 pound). By approximating my fat loss as closely as possible, i considered this to be my "real loss" and everything else to be temporary. The many weight logs i kept in past fasts (and post fasts) assured me that the swift return of this temporary portion of the weight loss was to be thoroughly counted upon... thus it could in no way be considered to be "real loss".
Based upon my bmr approximations and 2 hours of exercise per day, i estimate that i lost 1 full pound of fat in the first few days and each day a little bit less and less, rounded to .9 for a few days, then .8, then .7, then finally .6 and just kept a log with 2 separate colums, one for scale weight and the other for "estimated real weight" based on my original 192 minus only the fat loss.
Sounds complicated maybe, but i worked out these estimates for the entire fast in about 4 minutes ;).
If any points herein are still unclear to anybody, i am happy to do my best to clarify them.
Hi 2cb4me,
"Received my copy of Food Combining today when fetching my mail, and thought of you! Hope you received my supportive vibes!"
Not until reading this, but thanks
.
"There was mention of healing crisis being avoided thus far, so a am glad you managed to dodge that, as a crisis of any sort is a good thing to be without! "
In terms of comfort, you are undeniably correct... but in terms of the body pushing out something nasty, i wouldn't mind one so much if that's what it needed to do
.
"Just wanted to tell you, my body responded to the juice in such positive way! It was clearly the better choice."
I am so happy to hear this. Juice has definately served me well in the breaking of fasts. My last fast of 10 days strongly reinforced this as i attempted to break it by going strait into raw fruits/vegetables and had to back up to "juice only" for 2.5 days to feel my best. It was nearly immediate that i began to feel great once i was back on juice.
"Hope this journey proves to be much rewarding, taking you further down the road to optimal health! Warm regards."
Thank you 2cb4, i know it will
.
hi lulu,
"even though your math confuses me greatly, it sounds like you are doing an awesome job."
You and others as well ;). My attempt at explaining this is in reply to msvic's post just above.
"the best thing is that you have no absolute fixed date to end your fast and that you are listening to your body.
major props to you for that; it is *so* important. you've done your research, you are doing things safely and respectfully."
yes lulu, i agree that listening to one's body is an essential part of it. One can't very well do that and respond to it with a cemented number of days in mind.
"...i hope others read and learn from your posts... well done and good luck... i hope you get all the results you deserve. and more ;)"
Thank you so much lulu
.
