Hi Chiron,
Your question: ML, have you had any success with these sprouting/getting seedlings?
I am on a mission to grow good food,(and have a lovely grapefruit tree, etc...well, even without fruit the leaves smell wonderfull))and today found a gorgeous lemon the cashier treated like an orange--she was bewildered but happy
to learn that it(the anomoly!)was the real, healthy lemon--
no snout at all, and very round. she didn't know that!
anyway, I have some peach pits from last year that were
very good-tasting.( :-)--THE PEACHES WERE, THAT IS)I've been soaking them in a little water. must I nick them
to start growth? or?......
also, today, I had the first ever(or in years!!!)
good apricot, fresh, I've ever had...that seed too is soaking.
I do all this only by feel. (and faith) Can you give me some tips, from experience and knowledge?
thanks!
BTW, it's my birthday, so, whatever you tell me
will be taken to heart, and extended to others ALL YEAR
--since that's how I see my b'day.
THANKS!
best,
C
eDIT)ps--PATIENCE IS NOT THE ISSUE: i HAVE PLENTY.
iT'S JUST THAT i DON'T WANT TO BE OFF-TRACK, ENTIRELY,
ANd WASTE SEEDS--IF THAT -waste- IS SO.
Answer: If the seeds are good, all they need is to spend some time in cold weather to cause them to be able to sprout?
Thus when I ant to sprout peach pits, I dry them out 1st and place them into the refrigerator for awhile(maybe 30 Days) then in the spring I plant them in the dirt !
The ones that are going to sprout do so !
Same way with any other tree seeds !
My Lemon Seeds have taken several months in the pots for most of them to sprout and still more are sprouting as time passes !
I am at 1/4 % germination now with them, for I planted 24 pots with two seeds each and have 12 little trees now !
Smile Tis your choice.
