Hey...thanks for the advice...I went to the doctor on Monday and told her what I did with the enema's...that was embarrassing...and she suspected that I had a bacterial infection that probably was caused from the enema's. So she gave me an
Antibiotic shot and put me on oral
Antibiotics for a week(Levaquin and Metronidazole). She also took blood tests to make sure my electrolytes weren't seriously out of wack. Won't know about those tests until next Monday. Anyway...turns out she was right about her suspicions because that night my body had a real battle with whatever was inside of me. I woke up with wet hair and pajamas from so much sweating. The night after that I had a fever on and off. Then finally the third night I had a normal sleep. This is the first time I've had any kind of sickness for a couple of years. I had my flu shot this year like I do every year, and they seem to work well for me. I know my problem was from the enema, because I'm normally a really healthy person.I guess I was trying to be even healthier by doing the enema's (never again!). The doctor told me that the whole idea of hydrotherapy was "bogus"...that she was into alternative medicine, but that particular veiwpoint was bogus. She said that by doing the enema's one can cause serious damage to the colon...even death if there are heart valve problems (which I don't have). She told me that if I really wanted to cleanse myself just to drink senna tea, because that'll do the job. She said the body naturally cleans itself and it's not true that feces gets stuck to the walls of the colon like I've heard. She said it's really dangerous to mess with the chemical balance in the colon. Well...beleive me, I'll never do it again! So..thought I'd share my personal experience with anyone who is thinking of trying enema's. I'm sure it's great for some people, but I guess if one decides to do it, better use extreme caution, and it never hurts to get a doctor's opinion first. =)
