I know 2 stories
One Story:
one guy has a company around Harry Hines Blvd.off I35 Hiwy,Dallas,TX.
The BBB showed this company in their advertisements.
I believe to warn folks that he was not up and up.
He mite have ripped off people I can't say???
I remember he sent a lot of stuff like cameras, luggage through mail order.
BBB must have gotten burned cause Steve H. mail order schemes were greatly
outted to consumer readers.
I kinda of remember the guys name (steve hammond).
There was a large article in the newspapers on the guy.
Steve H. lived all around newly construction of homes just to keep from sleeping
in hotels, etc...to save money.
Steve Hammond would leave early before the construction people came back to work
the next morning.
The article pointed out Steve H. was worth millions and did not get along with his
family in California.

The other story was close to me too.
This was around maybe the eightys and on.
Whenever we go shopping to K Mart (like that store).
A guy would be walking around the store too.
The guy was just shopping. He was not begging or doing anything out of the norm.
Someone always pointed him out to everyone else.
He would say
see that guy over there at the customer service line.
We would see the guy and say yeah.
Then the person would point out to everyone
see what he is wearing.
We would glance over what guy was wearing.
Then the person would tell us
see what that guy is wearing.
Anyway, he was dressed really down.
the guy was wearing some one piece jump suit like the mechanics would wear. It might have been old looking, torn, maybe worn out.
that was not the point.
the point was that we were told this guy was known around town as the 5 million dollar man.
we were told how this guy made his money.
we were told he picked up junk all around town.
Everyone thought this guy was like a bum. This guy looked like he did not have a dime in his pocket.
Funny.

Maybe that is why Dallas runs off pan handlers at street light corners.
I read in the newspaper that beggers can make $50,000 a year and some
$25,000 and some $75,0000.

One vacation someone started washing our car windows for a buck.
when guy got through cleaning with window spray he asked us for a buck.
They say selling is a dirty business. I use to be a sales girl. It was a hard
way to make a buck. You have to really like what you are selling to pull it off.

Heard one can make $60,000 bucks just selling one thing like cooking oil to the
restruants.
If worse comes to worse maybe I can be like Apple Annie at the street corner.
Sell some pencils or maybe an apple or two.
Maybe I can make 60 thous a year think?
