Hi DC,
Your question: Hello Moreless,
I am the same persion who has been posting under #78015 (DC) ID. I have changed my id to better align with my future goals.
I have a question about NPN/Brix. I have read some of your previous posts and found that carrots with brix 18 should be considered top quality carrots. I have tried my level best to find the best I can - I have been able to find 10 or 12 sometimes 8.
For this reason I have started soaking my vegetables in water by adding 1 or 2 tablespoons of HP. My question is what should be the maximum brix for me/us to consider above which it is ok not to soak carrots. If we expand the question is there a percentage we can set below which the vegetables should be soaked in HP. Please also explain the situation with sharp or fuzzy line.
Thanks for your help

Answer: It may be Good to just go ahead and plan on Soaking the Vegetables in the peroxide solution and establish a habit as most Vegetables may be of Poor Quality and this way one may Improve what one eats !
When we establish a habit we have a better chance of doing what we should to get the job done !
It will not hurt to soak the better quality foods, it may also improve them !
Now as to the Sharp line on the Refractometer readings, this may indicate more Acids in the plant and more NPN?
If the readings are more Fuzzy this may indicate Less Acids and Less NPN !
Cause and Effect !
Edit: By the way I like your New handle !
Smile Tis your choice.
