I put a new card in the dell computor tonight. It installed OK. It made absolutly zero differance. The computor knows it is hooked to the dsl line, it knows the speed, etc. ; but it is clueless on how to communicate, it can not receive or send anything.
The dell is about 2 months old and I just set the entire thing up with all the website books/info/files and codes to build the new website, otherwise I wouldn't spend much time messing with it and just turn it into a worthless kids computor.
To those that think they know, if a computor has a perfect network card, knows it is hooked up to the internet and yet can't receive anything, what would the next problem be? It worked fine for 2 months and quit receiving while doing e-mails.
Sprint checked it out and said the computor is not recognizing the dsl signal and the problem is with the computor. Other older computors work just fine, so the signal is fine. If it is working within a day or 2, it will have to be replaced and another full day setting up a new computor to be able to build the website.
Naturally all my e-mails, etc. are setting in the dell computor.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,315,041Since the internet is working perfect, I would see no issues with that, otherwise it is Sprint which I mentioned earlier. I will assume something came in via the signal and damaged the dell and it is no longer able to accept internet until the problem is resolved. I have no clue if a virus could do this, because I was looking at a video someone e-mailed my to look up on u-tube at the time the computor couldn't accept the signals anymore.
The next bad problem is that if I have to put another new computer on line, it will be another identical dell since they are selling their XP computors at wal-mart now and I will never buy another vista computer again.

This is a reply to # 1,315,024Go to Control Panel, make sure you are in Classic View, then open Network Connections...under the Lan or High Speed Connection, your NVDIA board should say "connected". If not, right click on it, and click on "connect".
If you have an emergency dial up, this same window will show this connection too, so make sure it says "disconnected".

This is a reply to # 1,315,024If it's a new computer are you running Vista or XP?
This may be different for Vista, but:
Maybe try resetting you ip address.
Try this:
1) Click on the Start button.
2) Right-click on My Network Places.
3) Click on Properties.
4) Right-click on the Local Area Connection… icon.
5) Click on Repair.
Wait a few moments for the computer to reset the IP Address.
Click on Close.
then try connecting to the Internet or to your (wired or wireless) network.
