I think that's smartest. If I had the cash, though (which is my next stop on the protocol train), I'd get some good quality chlorella and have that in my diet while doing IP6. Newport has made some REALLY good points about jarring stuff lose and not having anything in place to gobble it up. Right now, I'm using liquid Ziolite for that purpose. I take a couple drops, a couple times a day and it's made all the difference in the world with the 'edgy' or anxious feeling I'd get from iodine. I've not stopped the companion nutrients - but I think it's just as valid a point for the IP6. I did not do that before on IP6 and I wished I had. I'll go back to it in a few weeks.
Make sure to watch your symptoms of losing your iron stores. Back up when you need to. Think to smaller doses, spread throughout the day. Generally speaking, breaking up a divided dose of anything therapeutic gets heads above having done a blasting level at one point throughout the day. If one desires to do that and not run with scissors - it's super smart to have those supportive elements in place, ie: chlorella, wheat grass, cilantro shakes, etc. Glaxie has an awesome recipe for a cilantro shake with coconut oil. I trust Newport, though, and he mentioned that he didn't feel cilantro had enough of the grab and express ability (I think he might have even waged it against SCIO).
Ziolite can grab serum iron as well - but is most wonderful for picking up mercury, lead, copper and several others. I read it's even a bit more effective than chlorella in cases of mercury. It's much gentler on the system. I don't know that it has that yang ability like
Iodine and IP6 do for getting it lose but I KNOW that it has the ability to clean up what's been jarred lose and save us from danger of reabsorption.
Watch your symptoms. Watch your period. If you're feeling low on iron, back up. Perhaps if you did 300-500 mg twice a day for a bit, let your body get used to the protocol, eat good sources of iron and take Vitamin C with it to make sure you're getting it - you'll be able to work up to a more therapeutic dosage much more quickly. It's unintelligent to blow through your mineral stores and expect you can climb up hill once you've found yourself at a deficit.
REMEMBER: I don't feel we touch on this enough in this lab. You must (especially for womens) keep your detox pathways supported while detoxing dangerous elements. Iron and Folate are a must for women. If your Iron and Folate (all B's really) get low, your detox pathways get sluggish and you're not doing yourself much good!
Next time, I'll be a robust man who can ingest larger amounts of anything and doesn't lose blood once a month. :) But - being a woman, at least we get to be curvy, soft and for the most part, smell good. :)
