Hello Fasters:
I was watching the Science Channel show about human body pushing the limits.
They had two real life stories of men stranded in places without food for days. First story was about a man in a raft who got carried away in the middle of Atlantic Ocean. After one week with no food he finally caught a big fish and started eating the raw fish interior. His brain told him that the real energy for the brain at that point was not protein, but vitamins and mineral, which were only in the eyes and fins of the fish. He ate the eyes and the fins to survive, which normally one would have discarded. He survived 36 days. Second story was about a French man who fell in a deep cave. He also instinctively did not move and drank some water from the rocks. His brain and heart got stronger. The scientists who studied these two men’s health afterwards were amazed. They said that the human body is designed to survive when it does not get food. Unfortunately, I do not remember the enzymes secreted by the body etc.
It would be a good episode for those who are afraid to fast without any food for days. This has also inspire me as well to start another fast, especially my cyst has returned.
