Hi sweetB. Welcome to the support forum.
My first and foremost advice to you would be to wait before you start your fast. You said that you just stumbled across this forum tonight, and decided to try water fasting. Educating yourself is one of the most important things you need to do, and I hope that everyone will agree on this. It is too important.
Water Fasting can be dangerous, like many things, if you are not informed about it. Check out Dr.
Shelton who has a book online that you can read for free. Also, there is another one that you can read on google books for free - mouseclick would be able to give you that link. They are both excellent. There are hundreds of other resources out there for you too. I don't know them, but I'm sure that everyone here will have a different resource to offer you, which is excellent. Do not go into this ignorantly. Make sure that you are familiar with the effects of fasting, and what you might feel or experience, etc.
Secondly, what are your reasons for doing a water fast? How long do you intend to fast for?
Do you know why your sleep patterns are abnormal? What is your sleep hygiene? What is your diet like? Are you a shift worker? All of these can contribute to sleeplessness. Someone would be better equipped to answer your question if they had some more information. All I can offer you is my personal experience. During my first fast, I could barely stay asleep. I was restless, and had these strange dreams that, to me, resembled hypnogogic hallucinations. It was no fun, no fun at all. This last fast that I just completed, I had a little of the dreams at the beginning, as well as the restlessness, but after a few days, that went away, and I was continuously tired. I could barely stay awake, which is in fact why I ended this fast. If you read my last post it will explain more.
I am glad that you have found us, and that you are interested in fasting. I only hope that you will reconsider starting one until you have educated yourself a bit. Being smart about it is the safest way to do it. Blessed be.
