There was a much bigger stigma about doing the nasty and out of wedlock child bearing before the 60's. Sex is everywhere now....in you face. It's glamorized, don't you think? As far as LA, are all those people on welfare? Is there a statistic for that? As I understand it, there's a very progressive program in CA that won't allow single mothers to stay on welfare. So they have to go to job training. But then again, with Bush's national 6.1% unemployment rate, I wouldn't suspect any of those mothers are going to find work anytime soon. Remember what I said about peer pressure or parents? Something has to be either cultural or glamorized for that kind of statistic.....and, please give your source!
I agree, don't let the stupidity DNA spread...LOL!
But seriously, if this teenage pregnancy is a cultural phenomenon, then we need some major birth control advocacy in this country. Too bad when Planned Parenthood is so threatened and debased. That's where I learned how not to get pregnant, and very effectively so I might add.
I saw that Bill Maher show. Everyone is saying....Oh, we're spreading false rumors about this poor woman? Hell, this woman was out of state, and apparently her water broke, so after her water broke, she still went and gave a speech, and then hopped a plane because "she wanted her baby born in Alaska".....excuse me? Anyone knows that a woman that has had 4 babies before usually end up having potentially speedy deliveries.
OK, so she covered up the "shame" of the first daughters pregnancy. Perhaps she felt the need to do so because of her political ambitions. Guess she couldn't exactly cover this one up. What was she going to do? Pretend she was pregnant and then take 4 month maternity leave when she finally gets to the white house?
If this is her daughter's second baby (the first of which had Down's), then hopefully her daughter totally knows where babies come from by now. And if so, we definitely have to stop that gene pool.
