The diet is not intended to cure anything. It's a means to get you off the SAD (standard American Diet) of eating white foods, white flour, White Sugar
, white milk, white rice... and other things that have lead to your having candida. As many have posted, candida is a symptom of underlying imbalances, i.e., poor digestion, compromised immune system, bowel toxicity.
The diet isn't fun, but it is the first stepping stone on the road to health. You may well be carbohydrate addicted and your body is reacting to withdrawal from all those foods that have gotten you to where you are. The yeast cells are also screaming to be fed, Sugar
and carbs. You could possibly also have parasites, which go hand in hand with candida and they love sugar! parasites
also rob you of nutrition, which contributes to weight loss. The body is able to tolerate imbalances for quite a long time then WHAM! it finally gets your attention. It has taken a long time to get so out of balance and will take some time to recover and correct things depending on how toxic you are. The diet is meant to minimze your symptoms while you get about the business of cleaning your bowels, liver and kidneys. There are CureZone Forums
you can check out for all of these things.
The diet is not a meat and veggies diet. Compare many candida diets and you will find differences. Primarily the diet is one of vegetables, fresh and slightly cooked, lean meats, certain nuts (please check diet), good fats, alternative grains and lots of water.
When I first started the diet I was concerned about what I felt was the lack of certain foods and that I would become deficient. My doctor assured me that following a candida diet one is actually healthier than the diet they were previously following. It's true. I now eat far more fresh greens, good fats, etc. than ever before. It is recommended to eat a diet of 80% vegetables, 10% protein and 10% grains. Mind you, it has taken time to get there. I used to walk up and down the ailes at the grocery store trying to find a way to fool my body and get some carbs(the bad ones) into my body. Now, I eat alternative grains, buckwheat, quinoa, etc. I make waffles with these grains, ground flax seeds, walnuts, Sea Salt
and top with coconut oil. They are delicious and have greatly helped me put weight back on.
As important as following a candida diet, if for no other reason, than to take the load off of your already stressed system, you need to eliminate parasites. You will never make progress with parasites
in your system, they feed off the toxins from candida and vice versa.
