I wish I done an ultrasound prior to starting iodine. I've thought about over the years for documentation but never got around to asking for one. I'm ticked at myself for that one since I have insurance. So...no don't know if the nodule is new or old.
However todays doctor's take on my ultrasound report was that it was meaningless. He said most goiters have a wierd shape. They write up an irregularity on a goiter to sound like a nodule so you go back for a RAI uptake scan and they make more money.
I've had a number of doctors feel my thyroid and tell me it's slightly enlarged but feels smooth. Dr. Delcher today had to really press hard to feel the nodule. Another reason he told me it's just an irregularity of the goiter and to forget it.
I'll know more when I get my labs back later this week as I'm not sure why I've gotten sick. I do know that Iodine
does far more than help the thyroid work correctly. I wouldn't want to not use it.
I was told to wait a month then slowly bring my intake back to 50mgs
