Hello #95244,
whether you drink coffee or not on a fast depends on your reasons for fasting: weight-loss or health reasons such as detox.
If you ARE detoxing, then water-only will maximize cleansing and healing, but if you drink coffee (which is essentially a poison to the body) then that will be counter-productive; why add a poison to your body, when it is attempting to rid itself of them?
Another problem is the stimulation of appetite and the nutritive processes by consuming coffee, where water only will instigate full ketosis which totally suppresses appetite/hunger. The latter option being the easiest for you.
If you feel you cannot survive without coffee, which is a stimulant, then you probably have an addiction to it:
Water Fasting according to thirst is the very best "rehab" available....................
Dr Ralph Cinque
"I have seen people overcome tobacco and alcohol and coffee addictions quite painlessly through fasting.
The "withdrawal" symptoms are much milder and of shorter duration if a person fasts while quitting, than if not.

Dr H M Shelton............
"It should not be necessary to devote space to coffee, tea, chocolate and cocoa addiction. These poisonous substances (caffeine-containing drugs) are used by many millions of people for the same reasons that tobacco and alcohol are employed--to "relieve" distress. Caffeine is classed as a stimulant and is commonly employed by the enervated and weak to "sustain" them in their work or to keep them awake at night. Stimulation is wasteful of the energy of life, producing enervation. The headache, nervousness, unease, and suffering of the caffeine addict drives him, or her, to more of the same poison that produced his, or her enervation in the first place."........................
