Could a roundworm, say, an ascaris, run and hide in a finger?
My most useful index finger began to ache inside the second knuckle, and then on up into the fingertip where it began to feel rather tingly...the whole thing quite like an affected, or bruised, nerve...as though I had over-used the finger and needed to give it a rest, not use it.
Holding a cup, hurt, as did using a chopping knife.
At one point in the past month or two, I gave the whole finger a deep massage, noticing that I could use it more, with less pain, after that.
Now, the sensations are much diminished.
Could it have been a critter who went there to die?
If so, I am certain that the poisons from its decaying body were far worse than the critter, itself.
And it took such a long time to 'melt'...a month or two. Tough little beggars!
What was really nice, though, was that it doesn't seem to have been arthritis, as I suspected a couple of times.
Just wondering.
