Hi tasty,
I don't know if I have very much to say in terms of advice, but I am someone who has recently learned of the yeast syndrome and have also just started down the path to recovery.
I moved to Northern Europe a little over a month ago, and might be relocating to Southeastern Europe for a job if I can get my health back first. I had severe mold in my apartment in the US in the month before leaving. For years, I've always had a number of symptoms, which I couldn't figure out (low energy, brain fog, spaciness, taking a long time to recover from colds, panic attacks). I too enjoy a glass of wine (or beer, or two . . . ) maybe a bit too much. In January, I had unknowingly triggered a severe spreading of the black mold that was already in the carpet (as well as dust mites)when I cranked up the heat and humidity to battle a cold that I just couldn't get rid of, despite the fact that I was taking
Antibiotics . My body responded horribly; I had severe asthma attacks, very intense brain fog (to where I could barely complete a sentence), and a host of other severe manifestations. It was so bad I stayed in a hotel for most of the rest of the month. I have since noticed allergic reactions (sometimes quite severe) to certain foods that I would eat, particularly anything with
sulfites , and to a lesser extent other yeast-containing products (e.g. vinegar, bread, beer), as well as dairy, as well as to wine. I stopped drinking a week ago. I made an appointment next week for a
colonic irrigation -- it will take 3 sessions, and the last session will include a meeting with a nutritionist. I will need to follow a no sugar/low carb diet (meaning no alcohol as well) for six months after the treatment. Dutch insurance pays for 70% of the cost. In the meanwhile, I decided to get started on my own with the cleansing process. I went to the health food store; they recommended eating coconut oil and taking Capricin. I started doing both a few days ago, and the die off was quite rough (may be partially due to my unwittingly exposing myself to
sulfites in the chicken I ate as well). The left side of my head and body became inflamed, and have had ringing in my ears, sinus pressure, as well as dizzyness. Oh, and, my stool turned yellow and stringy with black flecks in it. Thinking I was having a stroke, I rushed to the hospital. The doctor told me I had asthma (it can't be a stroke since in the body, symptoms would be on the opposite side from the head); he told me that I had no trouble breathing in, but my lungs couldn't expell fast enough to keep up, as there is some sort of blockage in the lungs (which could be the mold). So, my lungs hyperventilate, insuffient oxygen goes to my head and body, and as a result, I get dizzy from the hypotension (low blood pressure). After seeing a number of doctors over the past 2 months who had disregarded me when I mentioned fungus as the root of my problem, it was good to at least have an ER doctor who said, yes, you do indeed have a physical problem, which may have resulted from the mold/fungus exposure. Emotionally, that was quite a relief. After I got home, I went online and did some further research, learning that the inflamation, yellow stool, and ringing in the ears were all symptoms of the die-off phenomenon. I spoke to a nutritionist a short while ago (the same one who will do my colonic). He said that its not necessary for me to take the Capricin at this point, because it will all be cleaned out next week, and my asthma symptoms will disapate as a result of the cleaning. Given that I was having severe reactions to certain foods, though, I wanted to get a head start; I'm thinking that if I take the Capracin, some of the mold/candidas from the other parts of my body will be already be swept into my bowel, ready for extraction. I guess I will see next week whether the
colonic makes much of a difference in my symptoms.
