Those are great links -- thanks for sharing.
I watched a documentary that presented an interesting argument on why organic produce is better. I'll try to summarize what I remember -- without mangling it too much...
Researchers have identified an inactive enzyme within cancer cells that when activated attacks and destroys the cancer cell. Reservatol from grapes will activate this enzyme. They wanted to know if any other common fruits and veggies contained reservatol like properties and couldn't really identify any sources -- UNTIL they tested organic fruits and veggies. They found that organic fruits and veggies had it abundantly while the pesticide counterpart version lacked it.
The theory is that organic produce has to work harder to protect itself from pests and diseases and thus this anti-cancer chemical is activated in them. Produce grown with pesticides doesn't experience any stressors while growing to trigger the reaction...
If this turns out to be true, then it may not even be necessary to eat 100% organic, but rather to eat as much organic produce as you can afford -- even a little bit is better than nothing.
I look for the organic foods that are on sale (these tend to be the foods that are in season anyway) first and the rest I get the pesticide residue version. I too wish that I could afford to go all organic...
