I recently took a Dulcolax suppository to get my rectum empty before doing the enema session. The supp worked quite well but left me unable to retain any water from the enema that followed. What are thoughts about this? I thought it would be a good idea but now, never again...doesn't work. Thanks- Re: suppositories before enema propaul

Hi #37380,
Instead of using a suppository before your enema, simply take several enemas one after the other. This called a series enema. In fact for a good deep cleanse a series enema is essential.

This is a reply to # 1,120,090I always use one or 2 suppositories "before".
Keeps the nozzle from getting clogged up and makes things easier.
I suspect you just aren't waiting long enough. Try leaving about 45 minutes between your trip to the head with the supps and your first enema.- Re: suppositories before enema #37380

This is a reply to # 1,120,634Hi, I took oke Dulcolax and had it in for an hour before it worked. When it did work it was quite effective. But, the pilemma is why wasn't I able to do my enema routine after the Dulcolax? I just couldn't hold the water. Lucky I was very close to the potty.
