Flukes are fairly common these days, especially in Asian countries. Snails are usually the carrier, and they get into many parts of the food chain. I myself have found eggs in my stool [microscopically]which possibly match fluke.
The problem with diagnosis is timing. To look for anything in stool--as in submitting stool samples to a lab, it is best to do so during a period of extreme diarrhea or major changes in regularity. In your case this may be not be an option.
Other tests are serological, or antibody/antigen tests. These are expensive tests, and will not likely be ordered unless doctor has high suspicion of it's existence.
I have protozoa, and this causes added problems. One thing you may notice with these types of infections is a coating on the tongue. This also reflects the condition of the small bowel, below the duodenum and in some cases the liver. There are flukes which inhabit both locations. Liver fluke tends to be more problematic in my view.
Some of the immune-system chemicals which try and fight these things, can cause problems with smooth muscles such as the bladder, uterus, prostate [in males] etc.
It will not hurt to start with a standard
parasite regime, and maybe a few salt flushes which I have found to be effective [must be followed with lots and lots of water].
Be sure to take probiotics during cleanses, because your microbiota {gut bacteria} can be upset with these herbs. shroom
