A thought I had when reading an article about dieting.

I read in a fitness magazine yesterday that if I am fasting or dieting because my main goal is to lose weight, then I have a 50-60% chance of failing. Most women who go on diets just to slim done are more likely to go on fad diets, take pills, or anything else that's extreme and at the end just really bad for your body and your morale.
My main reason for going on a juice fast is to get down to the lowest weight possible. My goal is to be as thin as I can before I go back home to Florida in the middle of September. And I'm planning on going to this huge Halloween party in San Francisco this year and I want to wear something that will make me feel and look sexy and cute.
As I was reading the article yesterday I realize that I DO have a huge chance of just messing things up. I don't have much of a drive or a determination to just lose it. Yeah, I go through days where I'm finished with how I look and I SWEAR that TODAY WILL BE THE DAY that I change my life, but after a few days I go back to my usual ways.
The article says that I am more likely to lose the weight and keep it off if my whole mentality is just to be healthy and fit and live longer and better. Not focusing my diets and exercises just so that I can look good in stockings and practically nothing else by the end of October.
I haven't been doing very well with my juice fast. In the beginning I did weight around 193lbs. After three days of MAINLY juice and water (with some foods at night) I went down to 188.5lbs. After those few days though I started eating solid foods again (and a lot of it) but I did exercise a bit more. I walked around downtown or I went hiking for two days. Those days helped a lot because my weight is around 191lbs. with clothes on. I have been walking about 1.5 miles a day which may not seem like a lot on paper (... actually it doesnt'...) but considering my joints are already out of whack, it FEELs like a lot.
Yesterday I had two small meals and today I had a small lunch. I make them myself (thank god for having a restaurant) so I know what ingredients I'm putting in my dishes. Yesterday I walked over two miles and today I'm planning to walk at least 1.5 miles..... hmm... there's fire across the street from my apt. Be back later!
