I'm actually writing this on the morning of day three because I didn't have time to write it last night. Anyhoo....
Day two went pretty good. Got up very early and felt completely refreshed. I decided to try the salt-water flush. I discoverd that I didn't have a teaspoon measuring device so I just eye-balled it. I used my hand sea-salt grinder and mixed two "teaspoons" into a quart of lukewarm water. It wasn't really that bad to drink in one setting. I laid on my right side for about 30 minutes (as I've read helps on a number of sites and waited) then got up and waited....
(For those squeemish on colon-talk it might be best to skip this paragraph) It was probably a good 45 min before first BM. Not very much was expelled but the bowels did feel cleaner. Another BM maybe 1/2 hour after that was mosty water. I'm wondering if I didn't use enough salt?? I can't believe that that was it?? Do I need to be doing them more??? The one strange sensation I've had so far on the fast is the feeling in my bowels. I haven't been hungry at all yet. Every time I think I should be hungry or my stomach "growls" I look down and really have a gut check. Is that my stomach??? No, I realize I'm not the slightest bit hungry. It's a strange sensation in my bowels. I can't really describe how it feels because I'm not sure I've ever felt it before. I work in the medical field so I am around plenty of doctors who have told me that enemas and colonics are really unneccessary for cleaning the bowels (a few exceptions for severe blockages aside). Even for colonoscopies and sigmoidoscopies they dont do that. Generally, they prescribe Go-lightly or phospho-fleet which completely cleans out the bowels (I've seen a few videos so I can attest it's true). I'm hoping that the SWF will be sufficient for this fast.
As far as juices for the day went.....
I went with a mix of 50% grape, 30% apple and 20% nectarine for breakfast. It was so sweet that I couldn't finish the whole 12oz. But it tasted AWESOME!!
For lunch I tried to make my own V8. I used Cucumber, Parsley, Spinich, Beet, Carrot, Radish, Celery and Ginger. Actually, that was overkill. I dumped it (although I'm sure it would have been an awesome nutrient feast) Instead I went with Beet, Carrot, Apple and Ginger. WOW, now that is some good stuff. I made about 20oz and had 10 for lunch and 10 for dinner.
I wanted to go back to the gym (because I really enjoyed the workout and the steam-bath) but I had to write a paper for my class on monday (I'm currently working on my Masters). So instead I just did the paper and tried to relax and meditate a little bit. I'm wondering if Yoga would be beneficial on the fast?? There is a Yoga class at my gym but I've never tried before and I'm woefully out of shape.
On another note, I have that "nasty mouth" taste just about day and night at this point. One interesting thing I've discovered so far is that my gums have stopped bleeding. My gums used to bleed at almost every brush or floss. Now, no matter how hard I brush or floss, no blood!!! I'm really in need of some dental work at this point (I haven't been to a dentist in almost 3 years) and I'm thinking this might be a good time to do so. BTW, if anyone has some recommendations on good natural toothpaste I'd highly appreciate it.
Well, I guess thats all for now. I got on the scales on day two and lost another 2 lbs!!! I'm down to 226 (from 240 at pre-fast day number 5) Thats 14 lbs in seven days!!! Again, I know that a fair amount of that is water and weight is not the main reason I'm doing this but I can't help but be excited!!! Till tommorrow......
