Be Do Have
Three little words forming a short statement which can dramatically improve your slimming regime and life. Let me explain….
It’s like a formula, Be (thoughts) x Do (actions) = Have (results)
If you want to get great results change your thoughts for success. Positive thoughts, lead to positive actions, which lead to positive results.
Positive thoughts in slimming can be knowing and believing in your ability to slim, sweeping aside all the “failed” attempts which net you into that negative cycle of “I can’t do it because I failed last time I tried”. Positive actions – eating well, drinking well (water mainly), asking for help, educating yourself, exercising sensibly in a way that brings you joy (oh yes it can!) (I claim bragging rights that at the age of 29 I was the worlds worst couch potato so if I can enjoy exercise – you can!)
Positive results – speak for themselves, but put the other two parts of the formula in place and you just get there, effortlessly. This ties in with my theory of slimming from the inside out. Unless you harness your mind to work for you, rather than against you (the Bhagavad Gita, an Indian spiritual work of great wisdom, says that the mind can be likened to a drunken money – yes that’s so true, I am sure we can all relate to that, it goes all over the place, even making up silly stories to get us off track), you will find it a terrible miserable struggle to manage your weight successfully.
To put it another way (because this is really really important for your success), most people (myself included in the past) Tried to change effects by working with effects. I failed to see that this was simply changing one form of pain for another. All change must come from within. So when I went from diet to diet, and from more stringent diet to more stringent diet (they gradually got weirder and weirder, I ended up with the “drinking oil before meals diet”) and harder and harder exercise. As I have said before there is no magic pill or magic exercise or magic diet (shame really isn’t it).
Your current results (Have) are a reflection of your actions (Do) which are a result of your thoughts (Be). If you are not happy with the results you’ve achieved, it makes no sense at all in working harder at doing something which is not working. So you need to look inwards to our mind, our thoughts, and change that, slim the fat mind down!
So think the thoughts that empower you, all day every day, and you will have the results you want. A lean healthy body, a calm positive mind and a life operating at your optimum potential (great stuff).
Homework – write down Be Do Have on a piece of paper, stick on fridge, on your desk, or secret it on your person – I frequently use my bra, left cup near the heart! for positive notes or special prayers, so that you are constantly reminded.
