Hearing aids are indispensable helpers for millions of users. These modern, compact devices bring hard-of-hearing people back to a full and happy life. Some people think all they have to do is buy a device, put it on, and it's fine. It doesn't! Before you start wearing hearing aids daily, you'll have to get used to them. Users experience different sensations during this time. How does it sound? What does it feel like? The answers to these questions can be very helpful for hard-of-hearing people!

What does it feel like?

First of all, the experience of wearing hearing aids depends on the type of hearing aid. Today, there are different models from different manufacturers with unique features and functions. In addition, you can easily buy a hearing aid online!

There are two main types of hearing aids: BTE and ITE. Each has several subtypes. Accordingly, the experience of wearing different types will also be different. Even though a BTE device, like an in-the-ear device, has some components (such as an earmold) that are also placed inside the ear.

Whichever type of hearing aid you use, you should be prepared for some discomfort that may accompany wearing it. Such a sensation will gradually fade as you get used to your electronic aids.

Some users can completely ignore the presence of a foreign object in their ears. Some people never get used to them.

Excessive volume

Are you just starting out with hearing aids? Then it may sound unexpectedly loud. It's not even that the volume has been set to maximum. A hard-of-hearing person is just accustomed to a condition when the surrounding sounds seem muffled. The familiar acoustic environment suddenly becomes too loud when he first puts on medical devices. A person needs time to get used to it.

An unnecessary object in your ears

Loudness is not the only thing that surprises new hearing aid wearers. It takes getting used to the very fact of having a foreign object in your ear. For some users, this is a big challenge. The same applies to sound volume. If you use devices with interruptions, your brain becomes confused. It doesn't know what sound is normal. The brain is just getting used to the new acoustic environment, and after a while, it's back to the norm.

Sounds while eating

It is another problem for hearing aid users. Some foods crunch too loudly on your teeth. It refers to all kinds of chips, potato chips, and nuts. Medical devices amplify the sound to the point where it begins to cause noticeable discomfort. You might miss something important if you take your hearing aids off for a snack. Despite the aforementioned cons, hearing aids are the best and sometimes the only way to restore a person's hearing.
