Growing up in the 60s, Ina May Gaskin was a familiar person in the backdrop of my consciousness helping to bring in a New Age.
I'm not sure if I met her personally.
I may have. I definitely met her husband Stephen Gaskin, Who led the community from San Francisco to Tennessee where they formed an intentional community called The Farm.
In the 60s, San Francisco was on fire with consciousness raising events and there was a spirit of great collaboration between the tribes.
I believe the tradition was Monday night class with stephen Gaskin. And another night every week, Rabbi Slome or Carlebach would teach and if I'm not mistaken, there was another great teacher every week, who may have been Ram Dass.
Check me on that about Ram Dass.
Rabbi Shlomo took his Chevra--close followers--to Israel where they formed a community.
Rabbi Shlomo was a dear friend of mine and once taught a class in my house here in San Diego.
I met and had some magical experiences with Ram Dass and took A very magical photo with him and a plant that bloomed the night he spoke. That was before his stroke.
I have to say, however, the most extraordinary experience I had that comes to me now was a panel with stephen Gaskin and my friend stephen Longfellow Fiske. The panel was in San Francisco at a Whole Life Expo.
It was Passover and Easter morning.
My friend Terry Cole Whittaker, was on stage right after the panel.
Here's what happened!
I had been collecting signatures and important teachers had signed it.
The record of who signed with on one piece of paper.
Late Saturday night, I misplaced the paper with all the signatures.
I showed up very early Sunday morning and I was determined to find that piece of paper.
I needed to find it to put my mind at rest for the panel that was going to happen about two hours later.
I was in an altered state of consciousness walking around the Masconi Convention center.
I walked up on the second floor of the building sort of retracing my steps.
Without looking I reached into a trashcan.
Honest to God, I pulled out the paper I was looking for.
I simply had to find it. It belong to me.
There's a lesson here. We cannot lose what belongs to us. Sometimes we have to let go of things that do not belong to us.
A woman I admire very much Shamini Jain has inspired a consciousness raising initiative called Consciousness and Healing Initiative.
In the world consciousness that goes beyond conventional science, putting your hand in the trash can and pulling out a slip of paper you are looking for is possible.
As we near the Spring Equinox 2017, lettuce speech make this the most precious time of our lives.

Thinking of you!
David Solomon is concerned it may rain. If so, bring umbrellas. Magic is planned.
