My first day for the long haul - HAVE to do it!!!

Hey all-- I didn't really do so well for my short-term fast, but I'm feeling so riddled with toxic nutrients and toxic eating habits that I am DETERMINED to do it now and do it for the long haul. I know that I haven't prepared for this fast the way you should (raw foods, etc.), which def means that I will have much worse detox symptoms, but I'm prepared. I've let my all or nothing relationship with food (either eat nothing for days or eat everything in sight) take over my life for so long. I hope that this will help me come to see all of the things I've been missing out on as a result of a constant focus on food. I would love and could really use your guys' support, especially these first few days! My two biggest questions are: 1- When you experience bad hunger pangs, what are some things you can do to help quell them? 2- What are some things you do to get your mind off of food when it's all you can think about?

PS-- thought i'd add that i'm not going to be weighing myself for at least 4 days. I think that is a good increment to use, especially because seeing more changes in body weight will be motivating than one day at a time, it will keep me from constantly thinking about my weight, and also because, frankly, i don't want to know what i weigh right now )-; cheers!
