I’ve fasted many times in my life for all the wrong reasons. Or, rather, they feel like the wrong reasons now. The day before yesterday the thought occured to me that I needed to fast. It was an intense feeling, not just a passing thought. Last night I decided to have a snack. When I entered my kitchen I stood looking at the food--junk food--and I didn’t want a single morsel of it.
