Greg was a sponsor of the Slow Food's Fundraiser at
Orfila Winery last August. That's where we met
and talked about growing Barley for Hops: now I have
a better plan. Let's grow Mugwort, Moxa to the
    acupuncturists.

    Historical Note:

Mugwort (Artemesia vulgaris) has leaves that contain absinthin, a bitter compound that imparts a Vermouth-like bittersweet taste and aroma to the brew. Mugwort was gathered while in flower, dried, and boiled to create an herb tea. This potion was then added to the beer. In fact, the English name for this herb, mugworth, derives from its use in beer. Because beer was traditionally drunk out of mugs, the herb was considered an ale "mug's worth."

Acupuncture is often conducted in combination with Moxibustion. Moxibustion is the process where moxa sticks, made of dry moxa leaves (Artemisia vulgaris) is ignited and held about an inch above the patientss skin over specific acupuncture points. Moxa is available in a loose form that can be used for making moxa cones. Alternatively, moxa is packed and rolled in a long stick like a large cigar, about 15-20 cm long and about 1-2 cm in diameter. The purpose of this process is to warm the qi and blood in the channels. Moxibustion is most commonly used when there is the requirement to expel cold and damp or to tonify the qi and blood. A single treatment of moxibustion usually lasts 10-15 minutes. Needle-warming moxibustion combines needling and moxibustion by attaching a moxa stub (about 2 cm long) to an inserted needle. This method enhances the effects of needling and is often used to treat chronic rheumatism and rheumatoid arthritis.

    Today is Trick or Treat.
I am really in a Great Mood!

I am setting up for the Enchanted Garden Installation
at the Pacific Symposium, November 2-5.

The Whole Living Room looks like the Installation,
kind of like when they do the Rose Parade in Pasadena
they prepare the floats before hand.

Did you know that for many years Joe the Farmer,
my adopted family of local organic growers,
had their flowers in the Rose Parade????

You can read about that in my book for children
called "Joe the Farmer." I am going to get that one out
for the Natural Product Expo West .07 in March.

In any case, I am BRIMMING with EXCITING IDEAS!!

I am about to call Greg Kock of the Stone Brewing Company
    in San Diego.

He is one of the GREAT Slow Food Sponsors in San Diego.
I met him at the Slow Foods Fundraiser in August at Orfila
Winery. I was a photographer there for the Slow Food Tribe.

I must confess, I am NOT a boozer.
I seldom drink any kind of liquor of any kind.

On Occasion, for Ritual reasons I will drink some
Shabbat wine, or at the Feng Shui Conference I will
drink some of the Frey Biodynamic Wine because they are
part of my family. As the saying goes, Blood is thicker
than water, and since the family grows organic grapes,
I would never turn down a toast to this incredible and generous
family that donated wine to the Hilton San Diego Bay for
our Conference in Summer of '05.

(Hey have you noticed the Frey Biodynamic display in the
Seal Beach Wild Oats store???? Years ago, they had no
Frey Wine in there. I called the manager. See what happens
when to members of the Enchanted Garden Club?????)

    Back to the point....

    Moxa...Moxa...Moxa...
Did you know that before Hops was used to make Beer
    they used Mugwort????

Mugwort is Moxa...it is the herb that they use
in Acupuncture to heat up a point.
    '
    Get the point????

Last time I talked to Greg, I was saying--
San Diego was once the growing capital of the World
Food growing wise. You can grow here 12 months a year!!!!!

Greg is bringing in his hops to make his booze---
I mean Micro brew from elsewhere....all that trucking
    causes Global Warming....

Your Enchanted Gardener is into Global Cooling....

SO, do you see the writing on the WALL????

Greg has a brew called Arrogant Bastard Ale

Of course, the Enchanted Garden Intentional Community
is Booze, and smoking free. Our main kitchen is even
Vegetarian, although the meat and fish eaters are welcome
to eat their foods in the dining room.

I talked to Greg about growing organic barley and going organic
with this stable/staple food for so many Football Fans.

Talking to Greg, I EVEN heard him say that Beer has health
building properties. What would you expect from the Brewmeister
    himself????

Dr. Jensen believed that wine on occasion was also good for
    the circulation.

Now since Moxa is the plant I will be tauting at this years
Pac Sym--along with Job's Tears and Chinese Balsam,
why not start a new growth industry in San Diego???

Why not have Joe the Farmer and all the Enchanted Gardeners
    start growing Mugwort--Moxa???

Mugwort is also good for dreaming....

    Plant your Dream, right???????

    See the Connection, right????

About to call Greg Koch, and invite him to
    join the Enchanted Garden Club.

After all, There's likely a Itzy Bitzy
Arrogant...B in all of us, right???

Read the what this says at the above web site:

I can see myself in one of these,
    Would could be more humble?
